I had a big happy face when I received my medal. My father looked at it and asked me where does it comes from. I said probably Japan. Then, he starts on yelling at me because of the recent nuclear plant accident. He says that it is dangerous and all.

I'd like to know where do the medal come from and what do you think of my dad's reaction.

Maybe if it really does come from Japan, we should be more careful playing with it, or even keeping it.

I'm fairly positive that the medals are not actually made in Japan. I would assume, like most other Pokemon products, that they are made in Taiwan. (My Professor portfolio, as well as all my PR sleeves, are made in Taiwan.)

I don't think you need to worry very much.

The city medals are made in China, IDK where the States ones are from, I don't think that you have to worry, even if it was from Japan you wouldn't have to worry.

your dad's a freak

No, the medals are not contaminated in any way. There's a high possibility they didn't even come from Japan. My guess is that they were either made in Taiwan or China. I wouldn't worry about it.

Edit: Bah, you ninja'd me.

I didn't really worry about it. I even almost laughed, lol. But he was pretty serious. XD He was even saying something about the cars made in Japan are not bought by the US because of the recent accident (lol?). Anyway, back on the subject, in my opinion, the medal is not made in Japan, but in China because they have a lot of resources (like whatever you find in cheap stores XD). But I can't find the made in china on the medal.

Yeah, as said above even if the medal was made in japan, the risk's of it being contaminated are slim to none. Have your father read this article

http://news.consumerreports.org/cars/2011/03/mythbuster-can-cars-imported-from-japan-be-radioactive.html

While this focuses mainly on the automotive industry, and steps and pre cautions they are taking. It also explains quality control at the japan production side, as well as at the US border when entering your country. These steps would be followed in all industrys, for all things leaving japan and entering the US (or anywhere else)
