Stormfront - strange...

Steelix and Gyrados.

I mean WOW. 100 damage with NO negative effects on you? Now THAT is some serious power. Gyrados deals 100 and then possibly causes each of your opponent's pokemon to lose an energy. Not to mention Steelix could deal 400 damage or so.

MASSIVE damage right there.

Only if they're your active pokemon. Cards like those I like to keep on my bench and send the "quickies" out as my active pokemon while I power the hard hitters up. Because once they actually ARE powered up, you can really turn the tide in your favor.

And in Gyrados's case, I plan to use that card in my water deck which also has a Base Set 2 Blastoise. And that will allow me to power up Gyrados in less than 5 turns. Steelix I will admit will take a while to power up, but my metal deck has other hard hitters anyway, like Aggron EX and LA Metagross.

So if you use the cards in just the right way, you CAN make them effective in the game.

Also, think about past cards that hit for 100. They either do damage to themselves as well or cost you a lot of energy. This is the first time (I think. I havent been up to date on all the EX series cards) that a pokemon deals 100 damage PLUS another side effect that also hinders your opponent. And I think that really says a lot for those cards.

100 is sort of good, but 100 for 5 sounds only average. I mean, Mamoswine for instance can do up to 140 for 4 and can use the RegiStark engine, also without drawbacks. Bellossom can do up to 120 for 2. Regigigas LV X can do 100(or was it 120?) for 4 as well, with some nice extra effects. Kingdra can do 100 for 0 every few turns..the list goes on and on. It's nothing to be too excited about, really.

My Aggron EX can do 100 every other turn, but that Gyrados can do 100 EVERY turn. Has there ever been a card that could do that before without damaging itself in the process?

Not to mention that Regigigas Lv X is a very tough card to put in a deck. I have trouble using TWO different elements as it is.

I'm also eagerly anticipating Torterra. 80 is also an amount of damage that usually comes with negative side effects. I've grown fond of my GE Swampert because of it's attack that does that too. And this torterra looks like another good card. Especially considering I still need one to use my Torterra Lv X
