I've seen the thread about Silver looking very like Roark, and it remembered me of something I discovered a long time ago.

Doesn't it look very strange? Almost the same body parts; same kind of eyes, mouth, hands/claws, antenna, both purple.

It seems like it was originally planned to let Venonat evolve into Butterfree, but they changed it later and gave Venonat its own line and gave Butterfree a cocoon line. Both a changed a bit however, because the real Venonat/Butterfree line was just a concept, so they had to be changed to fit their new evo-lines (if you understand what i mean)

But what do you think?
 
I think I read somewheres that Venonat was supposed to have evolved into Butterfree, just like how Cubone was going to be in place of Charmander, but for some reason Nintendo modified it at the last second, giving Venonat, Butterfree, and Cubone different evolution lines. I'm pretty sure there are more cases like this. That's why Venonat and Butterfree look so similar, and Cubone wears a Charizard skull.

Charizard skull? I can see some similarities, but the ''horns'' on Charizard are more pointed to the back and Charizard has a more wider and flatter nose. But I think this happens to a lot of Pokes.

And heerosferret had a VERY amusing comic on her live journal about the whole Silver/Roark thing, Where Roark is upset about the whole similarity thing, and Silver holds up a hand-drawn picture of Dialga and Lugia drawn in a pose where they look almost the same.

...Then Roark holds up a drawing of the old Silver labeled "1999" and Silver sticks up his middle finger.

so Roark threw his pickax at Silver.

A very good spot, your right they are the exact same parts! Maybe beacause in Red, Blue and Yellow they couldn't get hold of many rescources... :/

But Pikachu/Raichu/Pichu/Plusle/Minun and Pachirisu are meant to have the same features. They're all part of a ''pikachu family'' that grows every generation.

I don't see much similarities... despite they both have a horn ._.

And Dunsparce and Dratini? Where do they look similair? I can't find it :/
 
No, I mean just the thing inside. They look nearly Identical minus the gas around gastly.
 
I know, that's why I said it. Sorry if I was a bit to sarcastic in the post. I was just thinking of what the people that designed the Pokemon must have thought.
 
well here is a few:

Lucario was never supposed to have a prevo.
Skorupi was supposed to evolve into Gliscor, and Gligar was going to evolve into Drapion.
