Styles of Animation You Love/Hate

Is there any specific animations styles, stop-motion, 2D or 3D that you love or can't stand? I'm also including drawing styles.

I for one cannot stand the animation and art style used in the Gorillaz. It just repulses me.

On the other hand, I like more stylised CG shows, like Kung-Fu Panda. As you don't need to make everything realistic looking to make it look good.

Note: Please remember to explain why you like a style of animation, and refrain from only listing styles of animation (such posts will be removed). Thanks!

I'm a real fan of stop-motion animation.
I had to do a stop motion project at college, and I really liked the results - even if it is a bit time consuming. (you need to do 600 shots just to make a minute's worth of animation - assuming you're going at the rate of 10 frames per second)
I'm also a fan of CGI animation films.

I have no idea what this type of animation this is called, but I can't stand the one that is used in "A nightmare before Christmas".

That would be stop motion animation.

I personally have a strong preference for 2D over 3D animation. I think part of this is growing up in the era where 3D animation was relatively new, and the old, bulky models and movements often played with my poor eyesight and made me feel ill. 3D graphics have improved enough to the point where I rarely have an issue with them (unless there's a lot of rapid, jerky movement, like in an FPS), but that lingering resentment is still there, giving me a strong preference for 2D work in both movies/cartoons and video games.

Aside from that, I think it's more a matter of style and how it fits the medium that depends on what I think of a particular projects animation. Something like the aforementioned Nightmare Before Christmas wouldn't have near the impact if it had been a smooth, flat 2D Flash animation like MLP:FiM. An example of this that I can think of off the top of my head is Arpeggio of Blue Steel, which uses a lot of rendered 3D graphics; this is something that I typically dislike in animation, but in Blue Steel they use it wonderfully, giving a sort of ethereal, otherwordly look to the attacks and other animations of the Fleet of Fog ships.

I don't dislike any sort of animation (I do prefer 2D), but what does bother me is when they are mixed. One good full CG show that comes to mind is Transformer Prime and you can probably think of some of the countless full 2D good shows. Mixing the two looks awkward. In one show I am currently watching, Golden Time, sometimes the humans are CG which does not look right at all. This can also be seen in Pokemon starting with DP I think, where a lot of moves are CG.

In episode 15 of XY I had the same problems when seeing the gang walk through a row of CG trees with they and the rest of the scenario were made in tradicional style.

(I'm sorry for not knowing the names of styles and the ones I'll mention is because of reading the previous comments)
I like stop-motion and my references are The Corpse Bride, Shaun the Sheep and Wallace & Gromit.
I hate most of CG style from the mid/late 90's to early 2000 since they tend to look like animated dolls and very artificial like for example (it isn't the worst of them but the only one I can recall enough details to search for the name on Google) "Shadow Raiders" (or "War of Planets") or "Cubix". Despite being latter, I also hate "Eon/Iron Kid" because they all look too bright.
While not disliking the style used in the Mass Effect animated series, it was a bad choice because not only the faces aren't faithful (they don't even get close!) to the original but the whole series has that anime vibe that doesn't fit the games, which are clearly western.

PS: I don't know if it's a question of animation style or just character creation but I don't like the shows from Cartoon Network like "Samurai Jack", "Powerpuff G." or "Dexter's Lab". While they were fun to watch and the plots were ok I think they're awful. I've recently watch some images from the Star Wars show (there's one in CN and other that has a similar name) and it's just ugly when compared to "The Star Wars: The Clone Wars".

I wouldn't say that Flash animation in and of itself is necessarily that bad, but it's almost always executed poorly. The only time I've ever seen it look good was in Wakfu. Literally everything else looks bad. Total Drama (judging from the commercials at least; I've never watched the show), Fosters, MLP, Johnny Test, Mucha Lucha, etc. The animation is choppy, awkward, and looks like some moving cut-outs.

Also whatever they used in Iron Man: Armored Adventures, the spider man cartoon from about 10 years ago, and RWBY looks horrid. The detail/resolution/textures/contrast are all painful to look at.

I don't remember any people in Golden Time being 3D, but I have noticed 3d cars, which lots of anime tends to do nowadays and looks really bad. The 3d in a primarily 2d series looks jarring, and to make it even worse, Japan is really bad at using CGI. A great example of this is Deltora Quest. The anime adaptation of my favorite book series as a kid has only the major monsters in poorly rendered 3d which contrasts horribly with the rest of the show.

This is the best I could find using just google

It usually happens with background characters. Re-watch the parade scene, it's the most obvious there.

CGI is the shit.

Monsters University in particular.
Frozen was also awesome (there's a link in my sig to one specific scene).

Flash animation is awesome when the artists can use it well (the animation quality of My Little Pony is league ahead of shows like Johnny Test).

But of course, hand drawn is my personal favorite, especially Adventure Time and the classic Disney movies.
