Platinum is a really amazing set with lots of good cards, mainly Trainers, but it has some excellent Pokémon as well.
Basically every Lv.X from Platinum can be deadly in the right deck, even Shaymin and Drapion - but the other three in Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina are on another level. I personally think Giratina Lv.X is underplayed, despite being a little slower than some. However, all of the cards with no Lv.X in the deck are just not worth using competitively IMO, despite a lot of them looking good in theory. I suppose you do have Shuppet, Bronzong G, Crobat G as well, though. Along with all the good Trainers.
Rising Rivals comes in with Flygon, Jirachi, Lucario GL, Luxray GL, Beedrill, Gallade 4, Nidoqueen, and more. Most of the Lv.X's are good, though Hippowdon, Mismagius, and Snorlax are a bit underwhelming IMO. Rising Rivals also isn't lacking in the good Trainers department either with Aaron's Collection, Bebe's Search, Lucian's Assignment, Sunyshore City Gym, SP Radar, Underground Expedition, and Volkner's Philosophy all worthy of note - as well as the ever useful SP Energy.
Add to that the fact that more cards from Rising Rivals are in higher demand and worth more right now makes the set the most worthwhile and probably the best at the moment. Platinum is great though and a close second for sure, but since you wanted to stop buying Platinum and go for something else anyway, it's got to be Rising Rivals that you buy if you don't want to go for some HG/SS next month.
