Swampert, Sceptile, Torchic Promo with 'Ancient Traits' [11/13]

Multi Strike is gonna be so broken. If Blaziken has an attack that hits for 70, with a muscle band, it's hitting for 180 a turn. I know it's a Stage 2, but damn.... that's strong. If they release a mega blaziken thatalso has multi strike.... may God help us all

Anyone else notice that torchic is a promo? This probably means we won't get it in america, and if we do it will be later. Not to disappointing as it sucks but the artwork is nice

That could also mean that Sceptile and Swampert's pre stages would get their abilities as well.

I don't get why they're being called half arts. The art, not the Pokemon, takes up the whole card, but the body of the card overlaps the bottom portion. You can see the ocean floor and rocks in the Swampert one and grass and a rock on the Sceptile one. Anyway, I don't know how I feel about these new Alpha/Omega powers. They seem a bit OP, at least the ones we've seen. Like Auride said, I hope they're not going to be printed on too many cards.

I wonder how that Omega Barrier is going to work with Lysandre. Any guesses? If you have a pokemon with Omega Barrier in the active, can they lysandre a benched pokemon without it? Or if they have a regular pokemon in the active, can you lysandre a benched pokemon with Omega Barrier? Im really hoping that the answer is neither, but does anyone have anything to say on that?

Is there any significance to the fact that they announced Ancient Trait cards for Swampert and Sceptile but not Blaziken, just Torchic? Are they hiding something special for Blaziken? Hmm....

When Primal Clash was first confirmed, Blaziken was the only starter that was a Holofoil card. I don't think it will get any Ancient Trait variant.

Omega Barrier specifies that you prevent all effects of the Trainer card done to that Pokemon. Because of that, your opponent can't use Lysandre if your Active Pokemon has Omega Barrier, because the effect is applied to the Active Pokemon AND the Targeted Pokemon on the Bench. As for what else O Barrier blocks, here is a quick list...

-Hypnotoxic Laser
-Escape Rope
-Pokemon Catcher
-Enhanced Hammer
-Startling Megaphone
-Flare Grunt
-Crushing Hammer
-Xerosic
-Lysandre
-Target Whistle (can't be used to pull out a Pokemon with Omega Barrier, though the only Pokemon with O Barrier right now are Evolved)

I think cards like lysandre and escape rope will work when a pokemon that has Omega barrier is active becuse they are targeting another pokemon not the Omega Barier pokemon.

Keep in Mind Togekiss PLS's Bright Veil ability, which is basically the same as Omega Barrier, DID prevent the effects of Pokemon Catcher, so Sceptile will almost definitely be immune to Lysandre.

The main difference between Bright Veil and Omega Barrier would be that Bright Veil's protection extended to all of your Pokemon while Togekiss was active. Seeing as Omega Barrier only protects the Pokemon with the Ancient Trait, it is likely that an Active Sceptile or Primal Groudon-EX would not prevent a Lysandre to a benched Pokemon lacking Omega Barrier. I would agree that Lysandre should fail if used against an Omega Barrier Pokemon on the Bench. Of course, we'll have to wait for the official rulings to know for sure.

Finally, stage 2's are getting a buff. That Swampert looks AMAZING. Everything about it is great, I'll definitely be making a deck with it (also, the art for that Swampert is great).

Am I missing something, or do I see that you can only get these cards in Japan-Land?

When do we think they will hit our sunny shores?

Excluding the Torchic, those Stage 2's are part of Gaia Volcano and Tidal Storm, so they will be part of our english set. Since they are specified as Rares, they seem like a mix between FA and Holo's. Not really Half Arts, but moreso 3/4 Arts.
