POKEMON: 19
4 (not sure. Looking at klefki. Basically, it's a spot for a pivot )
4 Eevee (Sun/Moon)
3 Sylveon GX (click on link for translation)
4 Slowpoke (Breakpoint, I guess. Both are terrible. The water version has 2 to retreat, but 20 more HP than the other available option)
4 Slowking (Breakpoint)
TRAINERS: 29
4 Professor Sycamore
3 Team Flare Grunt
3 N
1 Hex Maniac
4 Nest Ball
4 Fairy Garden
4 Pokémon Catcher
4 Random Receiver
1 Switch
1 Super Rod
1 Special Charge
ENERGY: 12
8 Fairy Energy
4 Double Colorless Energy
Okay. First of all, I'm new to the game after a 14 year hiatus. And due to budget reasons, I am NOT going into Standard until the next rotation in...about 7 months?
At the moment, I'm trying to predict what the future meta holds as well as what sets will rotate out. From what I have been researching, I believe that we will see a rotation in which Primal Clash, Double Crisis, and Roaring Skies will be rotated out, leaving us with Ancient Origins and beyond.
Initially, I tried working with Generations and beyond, but it seemed like that the amount of usuable trainers were extremely minimal and they would have to print a TON of interesting trainers in the next 2 S&M sets to make up for it. So I'm playing it safe and working with an Ancient Origins-and-on build.
With that in mind, after reading the translation for Sylveon GX, I have reason to believe that it's going to be top tier material. Being able to use Eevees 'Energy Evolution' into Sylveon and use Magical Ribbon turn 1 is HUGE, especially in an environment where Shaymin EX and VS Seeker are absent (because of the lack of VS Seeker, it seems like players will play a lot more conservatively on Sycamore). From there, you get as many Slowkings as you can to increase your chances of being able to 'Royal Flash' the opponents active and throw their energy onto something considerably useless. This also heavily reduces the chance of an opponent making a Ninja Boy play. All the while, you're hitting the opponent for 110 every turn with Sylveon GX's Fairy Wind.
One of the things is that there's 4 Lysandre in the deck. I know it's usually a 2...maybe 3 max card. But I figure that an opponent could catch on and try to build up an attacker on the bench and position themselves to win in the 'prize trade'. I figure by having maxing out on Lysandres, you increase the chanses of being being able to foil this sort of play...which would be bringing up their attacker, depleting them of their energy card(s), and proceed to take them out (more than likely in 2 turns)
And if you REALLY need to, Slowkings power combines REALLY nicely with Prayer GX (Bouncing 2 of their Pokemon into their hand) , should the occasion rise.
Any thoughts?
