RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Dragon Set Live]

Dragon is out.

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Dragon Set Live]

Just two more sets until we have the 2004 Worlds format (Expedition-Hidden Legends). Exciting stuff. Would you be willing to add Expedition-On to the list of formats? I would love to try out Niniken and BAR (With Eels gone, I gotta get my Rayquaza fix somehow)

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Dragon Set Live]

Will there be mobile viewing for this program?

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Dragon Set Live]

Can't wait for more of the ex sets and delta stuff. Those were the great days.

That format will be added when Hidden Legends is out (which is just around the corner). What should be name of that format? Modified 2003-2004 or Worlds 2004, I cant decide.

It's not planned ATM. Mobile optimized view is time consuming to build because it needs fast user interaction. However you can already play the game by Google Chrome on iPad or Android.

Modified 2003-2004 seems best, but idk.

By the way, this update is amazing, great job.

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua Set Live]

This looks amazing! I actually wanted to do this for a long time, but I'm not too good at programming. Excellent work!! :D

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

Hidden Legends expansion and Modified 2003-2004 format are now available.

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

I just found this online, and let me say it's great. I've been adicted playing with some friends, it's nice to play with the old cards without having to dish out tons of money. I love this site. Does anyone know when FRLG will come out though?

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

Also, does anyone know when the site will be back up?

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

I'm working on Career Mode right now.
Players will have their own inventory of cards, and they will earn ingame currency to get more cards via ingame booster packs. So there will also be some starting decks available for career start.
My question is what should be the contents of those starting decks?
1. It should be for generation 1 (base set- team rocket) for now. Other generations will become available over time.
2. They should not contain OP cards like hitmonchan, electabuzz, ER, SER, blastoise, gust of wind, etc. Oak and Bill can exist up to 2 of each.
3. They should be well balanced against each other, considering weaknesses/resistances, etc. (think of like rock-paper-scissors)
4. They should contain equal amount of rare-uncommon-common cards.
I initially thought of 3 decks: Grass&Psychic, Fire&Lightning, Water&Fighting. I think these types provide the best balance. However I couldn't decide about the contents of each deck.
What do you think?

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

What types of decks are you thinking? Something akin to theme decks or something with a stronger core strategy behind it, like Electrode/Zapdos, Pidgeot/Vileplume and Dark Dragonair rush?

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

It should be mostly simple starting decks with weak strategy but has some growth slots for more powerful cards.

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

After thinking for a while, here's what I came up with. I tried to opt for cards that are fun, but generally not worth using in normal play.

JUNGLE DECK:
Rare (3):
1x Venomoth
1x Pinsir
1x Pokemon Trader

Uncommon (9):
2x Haunter (base)
2x Kadabra
2x Jynx
2x Exeggutor
1x Fearow

Common (11):
2x Gastly (base)
2x Abra (base)
3x Eggecute
2x Spearow
2x Venonat

Uncommon Trainers (9):
3x Energy Retrieval
2x Full Heal
2x Super Potion
2x Professor Oak

Common Trainers (10):
3x Potion
2x Switch
2x Bill
3x Pokeball

Energy cards (18):
9x Psychic Energy
9x Grass energy

A beginning deck based on Jungle Expansion. Exeggutor was an obvious choice for a Psychic/Grass deck and has a fun effect. Venomoth and Fearow were chosen to reinforce the rock/paper/scissors mechanic with the other two decks by having a fighting resistance (and electric weakness, in fearow's case). Jynx and Pinsir are both decent, and rarely used, early game cards. Although I tried to generally steer away from incomplete evolution lines, because it would lead to every player evolving the deck in the same way, Haunter and Kadbra are both powerful enough to merit using on their own. Pokemon Trader was chosen as the rare trainer in this, since I tried to give it a lot of search options to compensate for how many 30 HP basics it has.

FOSSIL DECK:
Rare (3):
1x Kabutops
1x Hitmonlee
1x Pokemon Breeder

Uncommon (9):
1x Omastar
2x Golduck
1x Golem
2x Graveller
1x Machoke
2x Tentacruel

Common (11):
1x Omanyte
2x Kabuto
2x Psyduck
2x Machop
2x Geodude
2x Tentacool

Uncommon Trainer (9):
2x Defender
2x Profressor Oak
1x Revive
3x Super Potion
1x Energy Retrieval

Common Trainer (10):
4x Mysterious Fossil
3x Recycle
2x Bill
1x Switch

Energy Cards (18):
9x Water Energy
9x Fighting Energy

This deck was built based on the simple fact that everyone has always wanted to play around with the fossil mechanic, but the cards generally aren't good enough to merit it. This deck has three different Stage 2 evolutions, so Pokemon Breeder was an obvious choice. Tentacruel and Machop were selected due to their low attack costs, something the deck in general lacks. The Geodude line was added to give Pokemon Breeder an addition use besides getting out the final stage fossils. Golduck's in there because he's strong. The deck is specifically build in a way that players can easily phase out evolution lines they don't like in favor of stronger ones.

ROCKET DECK:
Rare (3):
1x Dark Raichu
1x Dark Dragonite
1x Rocket's Sneak Attack

Uncommon (9):
1x Dark Dragonair
2x Dark Jolteon
2x Dark Flareon
2x Magmar (base)
2x Dark Electrode

Common (11):
4x Eevee (rocket)
2x Dratini (rocket)
3x Voltorb (rocket)
2x Pikachu (base)

Uncommon Trainers (9):
3x The Boss's Way
1x Challenge!
3x Revive
2x Professor Oak

Common Trainers (10):
2x Bill
2x Switch
3x Potion
3x Sleep!

Energy Cards (18):
9x Electric
9x Fire

This deck is full of cheap evolutions and fast ways to pull them out. Dragonair brings a resistance to psychic, in order to hold off the psychic types in the Jungle deck. Voltorb is a fast opening attacker. Dark Raichi is a card that can either offer good spread (which this deck really needs, due to it's lack of hard hitters) or backfire horribly. Eevee and Dragonair both have a psychic resistance, to give it an advantage over the Jungle deck. The Eeveelutions are really only there because people like using Eeveelution decks. Magmar tries to compensate for the lack of high-HP basics in this deck. Dragonair makes this deck easy for players to add in evolution lines that they like better than what's provided.

While "Growth slots" were requested, I instead trying to build the decks in a way that they were easy to evolve naturally. There are lots of 2-stage evolution lines, few of which were more than 2-2, so players are left the option to remove ones they don't like in favor of either adding a replacement evolution line or adding more cards to an existing one to strengthen it. I based each deck on a specific expansion so that people would have a good idea what the contents would look like before reading the deck list.

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

Well balanced decks. Couple of suggestions.
- Maybe add 2 DCE to each of them? Dragonite, Pinsir, Fearow will get advantage of it. But not sure that fossil deck needing DCE.
- Do you have cool names for these decks?
- I've recently thought that GF, RL, WP does better job for the type balance. What do you think about that? How about bulding GF and WP variants?

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

Thought I'd chime in with some potential deck names:

Jungle Deck: Shadow Spore
Fossil Deck: Fossil Force
Rocket Deck: Revenge

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [EX Hidden Legends Set Live]

I'll try, but the Fossil deck was so heavily reliant on fighting that it's hard to change without disrupting.

1x Kabutops -> Gengar
1x Hitmonlee ->Hypno
1x Golem -> Farfetch'd
2x Graveller -> Haunter (base)
1x Machoke -> Raticate
2x Machop -> Rattata (base)
2x Geodude -> Gastly (base)
2x Kabuto -> Drowzee
9x Fighting Energy -> Psychic energy

2x Haunter (base) -> Primape
2x Kadabra -> Marowak
2x Jynx -> Lickitung
1x Fearow -> Persian
2x Gastly (base) -> Mankey
2x Abra (base) -> Cubone
2x Spearow -> Meowth
9x Psychic energy -> Fighting Energy

As for the DCE, Full Heal, Defender and Revive are the three that you'd cut for them. It goes without saying that the decks probably need to be playtested before anything else, too.

EDIT:
Ignoring the above, I've been playtesting the current incarnation with a friend. For the most part, the decks are balanced apart from the Kadabras in the Grass/Psychic deck being too powerful. I think the current decks are workable with this change:

2x Abra -> 1x Gastly 1x Tangela

2x Kadabra -> 1x Fearow 1x Farfetch'd

Also tossing around the idea of replacing Pinsir with Mewtwo.

IMO, Base Set Gastly and Haunter are totally unusable cards. How about some Drowzee?
BTW if you can upload your updated decks to TCGONE and mark them as public, they can be checked out more easily.
PS: Career Mode is now completed and will be online on 01.12.2013. Decklists must be finalized in a few days.

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [CAREER MODE Live]

Just from looking at the screenshots, this seems like an interesting concept! I loved playing the Pokemon TCG when I was younger, but nowadays its just too expensive. Plus it'd be nice to experiment with the old sets. However, the website on the first post doesn't seem to work. Apologies if this was already asked (I'm rather tired and don't feel like reading through all the posts), but is there another way to download this?

Either way, good luck with this project. It looks promising!

RE: TCG ONE - full featured online pokemon tcg simulator [CAREER MODE Live]

I've been playing this game for a long time, and I'd like to just say thanks to the developers for their hard work in making this excellent simulator. Career mode is looking very promising and I can't wait to see what else comes of it in the future.

I have a few suggestions in order to help make the simulator play precisely like the actual game.
Please excuse me if these changes have already been made, or if these suggestions have already been presented ad nauseam.

1. Kabuto's Pokémon Power doesn't work. A Kabuto unaffected by any Special Conditions was unable to half the damage caused by my attacks.

2. Conversely, Kabutops still has Kabuto Armor, except it's actually functional. Every attack I landed on it did half the damage it was supposed to.

3. Omanyte's Pokémon Power still works even if it has been Knocked Out. This seems to be a theme; are all Powers glitched like this?

4. The timers ought to be more prominent. Maybe make their font larger, and make them turn red when running short on time.

5. The starter decks, while fine, are too overpowering for one another. Shadow Spore obliterates Fossil Force, Revenge obliterates Shadow Spore. Each deck should be able to reliably counter one another under a reasonably skilled hand, in my opinion. The popular deck appears to be Revenge, and I get destroyed by these players every single time, and there's nothing I can really do.

6. There really should be a reliable and easy way to obtain Energy cards. Heck, make it so everyone has an infinite supply in their deck builder. There's really no reason I should have to even search for Energy cards at all, when they are the fundamental building blocks for the entire game, without which I can't use the actual cards I just received from a booster pack.

7. My friend pointed this one out. While he's choosing a Pokémon to switch to, my timer goes down. He could literally sit there and make me lose by default, if he so chose.

8. This one is difficult to ameliorate, but needs to be brought attention to. The current join/create system we have makes it easy for people to boost, or have two accounts with which you can repeatedly forfeit again and again just to receive points. I propose that any game forfeited will yield no points. Indeed, I think rage-quitters ought to lose points.

9. Couldn't you stop in the middle of the game, keep a code key or something, come back, paste the code, and resume play at one point? I've never taken advantage of that, myself, but I don't even see it as an option anymore.

10. The error screen. Remove the My Little Pony. Apart from it associating this simulator with one of the most insufferable fanbases in all of the Internet, it just doesn't have anything to do with Pokémon in the first place.

If you need more details about any of my trifles, just ask. I keep a log of every single one of my duels.
Thanks again.
