A long time ago, in a galaxy nearby, TDL started drawing whenever he was bored. This thread is the result of that boredom. While some of the work might not be great (oh boy do I hate drawing hands), I at least try, which gives me some reason to be happy with my work. That being said, please leave a comment expressing any criticism that you may have, but most of all, enjoy! :)

RE: TDL's Art Thread

Yay! you have an art thread again! =D
I like your art style, I kind of giggled when I first looked at the drawings, but I think they look really cool. My favorite is the Rampardos.
As for criticism, I no absolutely nothing about art so I can't help you there, but I can tell you that I enjoy your art and that I can't wait to see more. =)

RE: TDL's Art Thread

Usual perspectives/proportions stuff aside, try a soft brush. The one you're using now is kinda hard and pixelated (for lack of a better term)

Sorry, but I really have no idea what you mean; I never use a brush while making my images. Maybe you can tell me where I would need to use a brush:

Step 1) Scan the image.
Step 2) Magic wand out anything white.
Step 3) Lower the brightness as low as possible.
Step 4) Color.
Step 4.5) Purge the image of any black specs. Black specs must die.

When you're on the image editor. Brush = brush tool. But thats for digital inking.

However since you seem to be using a scanned pic (i.e non-digital drawing) I'd instead suggest drawing with a smaller pencil/pen. The one you're using seems very thick. If you wanna do lineart via pen it's usually better to use something smaller than 0.5 in size for your pen/marker.

You could also tweak the anti aliasing and tolerance levels of the magic wand. Avoid doing a binary select (0% tolerance) as it will guarantee pixelated selections. Or you can raise contrast of the input pic, then perform a color to alpha with white selected. It's usually faster than manually selecting with the magic wand.

Yea, I'm really hating the pen I'm using (it's one of those Sharpie extra fine point permanent markers.) I really hate using it around smaller parts, as it requires me to be extra careful/delicate.

Thanks for the advice. I'll try it next time. :D

Quick guide to using color to alpha in Gimp (I'm pretty sure Photoshop has no such function so dont try it there)

Exactly how you carry out the last step is entirely up to you. For me, I did:

1. lock opacity
2. Bucket tool > fill whole selection > fill black (this makes all nontransparent parts black to give pure black lineart)
3. Gaussian blur by 1.0x, 1.0y

Thanks! I'll makes sure to try that sometime. Right now, I'm going to stick to my usual method, but I'm going to eventually convert to that.

I tried drawing Arceus, but I'm having trouble deciding on a good pose. I think I'm going to do something like this.

Also, I'm working on my watermark. I was thinking this:

***Added Normal Forme Arceus***

I feel displeased with the Arceus. I feel I could have done better (ex; fixed the wheel thing, make him in a better pose, etc). I do not like how Arceus turned out. >:|

I finally uploaded everything to my dA account.

I also added this fakemon I did last year. He's been on my dA account for a long time, so no big deal. :/
