Neither, really. Making sure none of the pokemon are the same type is a bad idea as you'll often end up with say 2 Steels or 2 Waters on a team. Having about 3 or more weaknesses to the same type is something to watch out for, but can be managed fine depending on the rest of the team provided you don't have like 5 mons weak to the same type.
Thanks for the help again, and I found out i MUST keep Mega Charizard Y. Why do I, you ask? Last night I caught this beauty...
Zyntia ♀ Lv 30
Modest Nature
Blaze ☆☆☆☆☆☆
I had her IV's checked as soon as I saw her ability, then right after clicking through the "This stat's good to, so is this one! And this one!" stuff, I did a little calculating...
0.00000013% chance to find this treasure without Synchronize, Cute Charm, or the Shiny Charm. I got extremely lucky. I've even spread Pokerus to her from an infected Fletchling I got from wonder trade last year.
Congrats. Too bad Timid is better in singles. At least Modest is good in VGC, to my knowledge. Also here is a better damage calc because the one I posted yesterday got rid of their megas for some reason.
Is breeding IVs down possible? If so, I can just Synchronize for a Timid Charmeleon and breed them, right? I have all the items so if I need an item to do it, I got it.
Also, what's that +6, +5, +4, -4, -5 number thing next to the stats?
Those are for boosts like Calm Mind. Breeding IV's is possible. If one parent holds a Destiny Knot, then the child will have 5 random IV's from both of the parents. Passing down natures can be done by having the parent with the nature you want to pass hold an Everstone. So in this instance, I think you're going to breed your shiny with a Destiny Knot and a Timid one with an Everstone and keep bicycling around Lumiose until you get the right combination of random IV's.
Most definitely, yes. Then, the exact same thing for a Charizard X for Doubles. I saw a good combo once of Follow Me Togekiss with Leftovers and a Belly Drum Roosting Zard X. I was impressed, so I've been wanting to use the combo.
Oh, I completely forgot to ask, what's Timid nature do? Is that +Sp.Def and -Atk? I only remember what stats are affected, but have extreme difficulty with the names of natures. The only one I know by heart is Adamant.
I'll tell you the ones I remember off the top of my head:
Timid: +Speed, - Attack
Jolly: +Speed, - Special Attack
Modest: +Special Attack, - Attack
Adamant: +Attack, - Special Attack
Impish: +Defense, - Special Attack
Bold: +Defense, - Attack
Careful: +Special Defense, - Special Attack
Calm: +Special Defense, - Attack
Sassy: +Special Defense, - Speed
Relaxed: +Defense, - Speed
Brave: +Attack, - Speed
Quiet: +Special Attack, - Speed
Naive: +Speed, - Special Defense
Hasty: +Speed, - Defense
Hardy, Bashful, Docile, Quirky, and Serious are all no effect and thus never used.
I've never once heard of Lax or Gentle being used.
Lonely, Mild, Naughty, and Rash are used rarely, but they exist.
By "exact same thing for Charizard X in doubles" I hope you mean breeding and not breeding for Timid or some other nature besides a - Special Attack one.
I mean Nature and IV breeding, not the same Timid. Also, upon checking the status screen, I realize what I thought was modest turned out wrong. Also, I thought Quiet would be +Spdef -Spatk omg. I have sooooooo many of them mixed up.
That's Timid and I think that could make a pretty good Mega Charizard Y. I'd make the moves Fire Blast, Solarbeam, Dragon Pulse and Roost. For teammates, things to beat Chansey/Blissey, Latias, Latios and Cresselia are important. You can beat all five with something like Tyranitar, Bisharp or Scizor. If you can get Low Kick on the Bisharp, it's probably the best of the three as it'll also beat Tyranitar.
Tip: For remembering natures, don't remember the name; remember the effect. I tell myself that blue is bad (both start with Bs so it's easy to remember).
Yeah, I learned quickly with the color thing. Red is Victory, Blue is Defeat. I remember effects very easily. So that Sunny Set you gave me will work fine in singles, right? As I plan to have MegaZard Y on Singles, and Megazord XXX-- err.... MegaZard X on Doubles. This Charmeleon wont be X ever though, especially since i dislike Shiny X.
Also I forgot to remove the H from her name lol. Zyntia sounds cooler to me than Zynthia because that T.
I'm going to keep Dragon Pulse. Y'know, gotta give it that dragon vibe. On top of that, the only time I'd need it would be of Zyntia was going up against a Rock-type (if Solarbeam ran out), but the Accuracy is a bit too low to risk it if you ask me. So how's this look?
Charizard @ Charizardite Y

Timid Nature

- Fire Blast
- Dragon Pulse
- Roost
I just took the radio silence as a chance to shut up, sit down, and figure it out for myself, so without further ado, let me introduce you to my party.
By the way, the stars are perfect IV's (like in the DexNav). The colors represent the stats with HP, Atk, Def, SpA, SpD, and Spe in that order. I got the color order from another site, a Pokemon encyclopedia named after a certain starter. I'm not sure if I'll get in trouble for saying it's name here like I did with the one named after Celebi.

Oh geez, you wouldn't believe how long this process took between breeding the right set of IV's, as well as abilities and moves on some of them... Oh geez, And then the levelling up. Oh boy. And don't even get me started on the PP Max collecting.... which was actually a lot easier thanks to the PGL.
So, this is my singles team, and they can work as a full party or as 2 groups of 3.
Assault group consists of Zyntia, Qai, and Liuan, as they are all best with simply dishing out damage. That's almost all there is to them, aside from Qai's SR and Spin. Before you ask, the reason why Liuan has Synchronoise is in case I run into an Azumarill, M-Altaria, or M-Gardevoir.
Recon group consists of Xeander, Sophitianna, and Dakota. Sophitianna will go out first, using Sub, Swords, and Recover until Attack is maxed, then Pass out to Dakota. Dakota will then go Mega and use Agility, attack, wash, rinse, repeat. Once He's either low on HP or maxed on speed, he'll Pass into Xeander who picked up the speed AND attack boosts and is now able to even handle pesky Fairy-types with his Iron Head. (The recon name comes from Sophie and Kota having to go out first and build stats before Xeander can come out, like how someone doing recon gathers intel before their side can attack the enemy)
On another note, I just remembered the presentation I gotta make as mentioned in my sig. Gg forgetful me, gg.
Still too lazy to look into specific threats, but there are some things that stand out. Never use Drill Run or Synchronoise. Drill Run is a worse Earthquake. Otherwise, your Excadrill set looks fine, but that could be because I don't remember what EV's it tends to run. Synchronoise is useless because it only affects Pokemon of the same type as you and is actually weaker than Hyper Voice. Hyper Voice with STAB is 145 base power and that's not even taking in the 30% boost from Pixilate into account. You're not going to be too useful against Azumarill anyway because it hits really hard and Sylveon's physical defense isn't that great, especially on an offense set. Draining Kiss is also never used because it's just so weak. 50 base power is not worth the healing or the opportunity cost. Instead of those two moves you should use Psyshock for Poison types and Hidden Power Fire or Ground if you can get your hands on it. Since you're going for an offensive Sylveon, you'll probably be better off with Modest and Choice Specs/Life Orb/Fairy Plate or Expert Belt to bluff Choice Specs.
You Dragonite set seems alright for a Baton Pass recipient, but give it Lum Berry so that you're protected from burns and para in addition to confusion. Thunder Punch is a viable option over Fire Punch if you'd rather hit Azumarill than Scizor and Ferrothorn. I don't care for the Celebi set, though. Firstly, it's completely useless if it gets Taunted. Secondly, it only has 3 max IV's. This is part of why showdown>in-game imo because you don't have to worry about the bullshit of softreseting for legendary IV's or taking hours to breed and train your team. Thirdly, Baton Pass on more than 1 Pokemon is banned under Smogon rules, so if you're trying to abide by them, you can't have that Celebi set and that Lopunny set. Finally, "quick pass" which is Baton Pass that just seeks to set up some boosts on one mon and then pass them to another instead of the bullshit BP chains that got BP reduced to 1 per team in the first place isn't that great of a strategy as it gets ruined by things like Roar, Whirlwind, Taunt, and just smart playing from the opponent keeping pressure on you.
You should never use two Megas in singles. You can only do one per battle and that leaves your Charizard/Lopunny in their terrible normal formes. Even Pokemon that work fine in their regular formes shouldn't carry a Mega stone just in case you don't use/need your other one because you're left with a useless item most of the time. Also, pick one of HJK or Drain Punch and use Return over the other one. Scrappy Normal+Fighting is perfect coverage which is too good to waste on two Fighting moves and no other coverage. Jolly also might be better on Lopunny, but I don't remember.
Baton Pass is definitely better on Celebi as it lets it escape from Pursuit and you shouldn't have two megas on a team. If you want to keep Lopunny, but drop Charizard, there are plenty of other good moves to use over Baton Pass, while Celebi really appreciates it. For Celebi, I'd suggest just getting one with better IV's, switching the special bulk to physical, and giving it Seed Bomb instead of Substitute. This way you can both not be Taunt-bait and handle Azumarill pretty well. You might miss passing Subs, but Celebi in particular doesn't care about status because of natural cure and I feel the benefits outweigh it. There are better Celebi EV spreads that go for some mixed bulk to better handle things like Thundurus and Mega Diancie, but lazy blah blah blah.
Finally, for future reference, you don't need to list out PP as it's assumed you have maxed them all out. IV's, too, but it's understood that in in-game you likely only have 5 IV's maxed, or are running some 30 IV's for a specific Hidden Power. IV's are generally only mentioned when you're running something like 28 HP IV's on something to hit a specific HP number on a specific Pokemon to lessen LO recoil or other rare occasions like that.
I'll change Synchro and I put Drill Run on there for the crits.
That Celebi is the Bank one so I just ger what I get. Also, in case i havent already stated this before in the thread, I only use Showdown to test teams to use in-game since I want to enter tournaments. I don't care if Showdown is better because you get whatever you want with no effort or whatever, but there's no official world championships of it with the winner's pokemon becoming an event.
As I said, they work best in groups of 3, and I even said the two megas are in separate groups. Singles is 3-on-3. And you didnt need to tell me twice. I'll put return on, but does Return work on wifi battles? I wasn't sure so that's why I gave him 2 fighting moves.
I listed out PP since it looked a bit empty and somehow bland without something next to all those colors.
I have no idea why but I feel like you didn't even read the fact where I said i bred them and didn't just make them in showdown. There is no way in hell I'm going through the hell of breeding a billion Eevee eggs looking for an Anticipation eevee with the right IVs aside from SpA due to Power items, as well as nature. I literally had 3 boxes full before I got one even with Calm nature, I still haven't even got one with modest yet.

Then don't play singles at all if you care so much about winning championships. VGC is 4v4 doubles. The only people who get their Pokemon as events are doubles players.

I read that. I just suggested that you might want to play showdown because you complained about all the time wasting bullshit on cartridge.

You're already taking the time to breed all your other Pokemon for the ideal nature, why not Sylveon, too? Taking forever is the cost of playing on cartridge. It was your choice to do so in the first place and it's your choice to use a sub-par nature if you don't want to put in the effort. You can pass down the ability easier if Anticipation is giving you trouble. Females have an 80% chance of passing down the HA, and male HA Pokemon bred with Dittos always pass it down. You're also guaranteed to pass down the right nature if the parent with the desired nature is holding an everstone.
You told me don't go with 2 megas when you mentioned the megas, and then again when you discussed Celebi.
Also, I apologize for seeming a bit aggro or irate in my last post. I've been having issues with that lately because of irl stuff. I replaced Drill Run, tested out the team, and found out that I was running into literally nothing but teams that consist of at least 2 of the following pokemon on the party: Mega Tyranitar, Mega Metagross, Therian Landorus, Therian Thundurus, Mega Garchomp, Suicune, Raikou, and a few possible Mega Gengars.
Whenever I'd look up Championship rules, I'd just be told by so many sites that the rules are always different or something, so I assumed it was singles. Knowing it's doubles is such a major relief. That's where I'm most comfortable. I apologize again for my earlier attitude and thank you for the help. I would also like to apologize for going back and forth and often not learning my lesson. I'm sometimes an odd student to have.
Yeah I assumed the attitude was from real life stuff lel. For the Celebi part I was talking about how if you wanted to keep Mega Lop but not Zard, and stick with smog rules, then Celebi should be the one to keep BP, but it doesn't matter now.
The official Pokemon championship format is bring 6 pick 4 doubles. Various small unofficial tourney are held in singles with whatever rules they want, but it doesn't count toward anything VGC-related.
