The comment section is always so predictable. Not literally ash's charizard? Boo hoo another shit set. Literally Cynthia's Garchomp SIR? Oh no it doesn't look exactly like I expected, what a shit set.

It's like a lot of you guys deliberately want to be unhappy about everything that gets released.

That seems like a very fun ability, particularly as a counter to Dragapult in conjunction with Team Rocket's Wobuffet, but Team Rocket's Blipbug only having 60HP puts a damper on that unfortunately.

I don't remember orbeetle from gen 1 or 2? This sets theme is a mess
Double post, but do you really want an exact repeat of the 1999 set with zero room for creativity? Orbeetle is not my or probably anyone's favourite Pokémon, but you can't deny it fits very well with the theme of Team Rocket. Glad they're not pumping out formulaic reprints, but just the right amount of occasional callbacks across the generations. If TPC gave every TR admin exactly what they had in the original games we would have 6 Proton's Koffing.

Orbeetlecardfanville population you bro
When they reveal team rocket's wobbuffet everyone goes ohh yay finally a decent card for once but when orbeetle gets a card with personality featuring a team rocket grunt suddenly it's a problem. We're getting SAR's for all of the pokemon in the set most likely, which means Crobat, Moltres, Mewtwo. Those are your gen 1 and 2 pokemon, enjoy them when they release, and I can enjoy the Orbeetle AR that's 1/13 of the art rares

Personally, I'm rather glad that the TR's Pokémon aren't all from Gen 1/2. We already got 151 for Gen 1 two years ago, and Gen 1 in general already gets a ton of representation everywhere. Also, the TR's Pokémon do have a pretty consistent theme in terms of artwork, showing the Pokémon with meaner than usual expressions and with menacing/gloomy looking lighting and backgrounds. Imo it works quite well.

(Also, Orbeetle is a cool Pokémon)

I like it. Assuming Team Rocket is still around and operating in most regions, I doubt they’d stick with solely Gen 1/2 Pokémon. They’ve been depicted with those for over 20 years and I understand not wanting to do it again. I like the more slice of life-ish grunt art too.

I mean, Orbeetle wouldn’t be my first choice, but…

What exactly about Orbeetle fits the theme? I mean I like the pokemon itself, but feels like someone threw a dart at a board and whatever it hit would become the new Team Rocket's -blank-. No one is complaining about creativity, but instead cohesion

It's a mean looking pokemon with high intelligence and psychic powers, all useful traits to plan heists. If Hypno or Alakazam wasn't around in gen 1/2, and instead Orbeetle is there, it fits right in their place. Just look at the Orbeetle art there for crying out loud, if that doesn't scream villanous pokemon I don't know what to tell you.

Orbeetle has always been a sinister Pokemon (mind control). Adding new Pokémon retrospectively to old Pokemon lore has always been a thing. This is a Set with Team Rocket in it, not a gen 2 team rocket set.
