Team Rocket’s Orbeetle from The Glory of Team Rocket

The comment section is always so predictable. Not literally ash's charizard? Boo hoo another shit set. Literally Cynthia's Garchomp SIR? Oh no it doesn't look exactly like I expected, what a shit set.

It's like a lot of you guys deliberately want to be unhappy about everything that gets released.
Literally only asking for... Team Rocket Pokemon in a... Team Rocket set. Too much to ask, huh?

We have Weezing, Hypno, Crobat, Wobbuffet, Persian, Mewtwo, even the legendary birds... what classical Team Rocket Pokémon is even missing, aside from Arbok?

I‘m kinda sick of these wannabe accusations. If you really follow this franchise you would know that a Japanese set is always centered around but never limited to a certain theme. Hence paradise dragonia wasn’t a full dragon set nor has mask of change only Ogerpon in it.

Lastly, this is literally a “Team Rockets …” Pokemon with update lore, something that is happening with every new generation.

I'm hoping the comments reflect the sales data of the set. You would think since people are hating on the set, it would deter them from buying it.

You're telling me they couldn't come up with anything better than Orbeetle? How about Rocket's Spectrier and (Insert Rival's) Glastrier? Then the English set name could make sense, and it would be cooler Pokemon than Orbeetle. You want to use Gen 8, cool. No worries, but how about Eternatus? Corvisquire/Corviknight was wasted on Hop, it would have been sick as hell as a Team Rocket Pokemon. How about... I dunno, THIEVUL? Literally a bandit fox with THIEV() in the name and has the eye cover. How about Coalossal? Sandaconda? Centiskorch? Grimmsnarl? Perrserker? Pincurchin? Sneasler? I mean, so many better Pokemon could have been used. Overqwil has gotten no love, that would have been a cool one. Orbeetle?

1. The Japanese set has no obligation to cater to whatever the heck the English sets are doing with their combined sets. It's purely TPCis decision to shoot themselves in the foot, for decades.

2. "Anything better than Orbeetle" and it's a list of Pokemon written by Edgley McKiddinson. I'll let the Thievul one slide because that's smart, but the rest of them are the same if not worse fits than Orbeetle in terms of "fiting the Team Rocket's theme". How you casually suggested Eternatus without even thinking of the lore implications absolutely baffles me.

3. Just say you don't like Orbeetle man. It's fine. Move along.

I love Orbeetle... but I can't say I'm disappointed any time we get an art card for a pokemon with (multiple) art cards from previous TCG gens.

Great art but I can't help agree with the sentiment when there are 1000 pokemon to choose from! (In my opinion... why not blipbug? We got dottler earlier this series...)

That seems like a very fun ability, particularly as a counter to Dragapult in conjunction with Team Rocket's Wobuffet, but Team Rocket's Blipbug only having 60HP puts a damper on that unfortunately.
we already have articuno, which kinda saves blipbug, but funnily enough also just overlaps it cuz its just a basic not a stage 2

Orbeetle has always been a sinister Pokemon (mind control). Adding new Pokémon retrospectively to old Pokemon lore has always been a thing. This is a Set with Team Rocket in it, not a gen 2 team rocket set.
Also fudge it, let Team Rocket have dark Pokemon from newer generations. Who cares

Your guy just talked about changing and "updating" the lore, so why not change or update the lore for Eternatus to make him also a Team Rocket Pokemon?
I'm throwing out random Pokemon, just like Orbeetle was thrown as a random Pokemon. At least the ones I mentioned have some kind of dark or sinister theme to them. Corvisquire and Corviknight are Ravens. They fit the dark theme (again, wasted on Hop). They like snakes, why not Sandaconda? Perrserker is a form of Meowth and Persian, both very Team Rockety Pokemon, it would only make sense to also have a Perrserker in another region. I don't see how my suggestions make less sense than Orbeetle.

Yeah these reactions are so extra. They're clearly nostalgia baiting by basing this set around Team Rocket in the first place. Why are people wrong for being annoyed that Team Rocket is getting a bunch of random new Pokemon they've never used in the video games? All of the characters in Glory of Team Rocket are from a specific Generation, and Team Rocket as a concept doesn't exist in any new storyline content after Johto. So yeah, "Team Rocket's Orbeetle" is a bit weird. Sorry about it.

I hate when remakes/fan games give existing older characters new Pokemon too because there's rarely any thought to their choices beyond "water girl get new Water Pokemon. ice man get new Ice Pokemon" even if the Pokemon don't really match the vague personalities they try to give the human characters. In the TCG's case, they also can't just give these characters a bunch of Darkness cards because they want the set to have type variety. So in some ways they can't avoid fan complaints but on the other hand they also set themselves up to draw criticism.

And theyll keep doing it wether you like it or not. Its just a matter of how on earth have you not grown accustomed to? not to mention Orbeetle "matches" TR more than some of these dude's recommendations which coincidentally one of them had to match one of their favorite pokemon. Not to mention imo having all pokemon of a trainer having to "fit their personalities" is actually boring af

I think Orbeetle makes for an interesting choice, though I would've given it to Petrel. A mad scientist bug fits in Team Rocket most out of any evil team, and you're really gonna tell me they wouldn't import pokemon?

Good for them? And people should be able to criticize them without being attacked for being "Genwunners" or "always complaining" because Gen 1-2 characters aren't using Gen 1-2 Pokemon in a set intentionally posturing itself as promoting Gen 1-2 characters. Wild concept I know.
