#1 Sonic The Hedgehog (June, 1991)
Sonic The Hedgehog was released for the SEGA MEGA DRIVE/SEGA GENESIS in June, 1991.
This was the first game to feature SEGA's mascot Sonic The Hedgehog. The evil menace Dr. Ivo Robotnik started his first evil plot by capturing little animals on South Island and turned them into machines to start his robotic army for creating the ultimate utopia, Eggmanland! The only person who could stop him, was a blue hedgehog with red sneakers and was the fastest thing alive!
He ran, rolled, and jumped through 7 different zones to finally free the animals and stop Dr. Robotnik.
It looked like the ol' doc should have come up with something a little bit harder for our speedy hero.
This is the first game to feature rings, chaos emeralds, special stages, super sonic, badniks, trees, you get the idea.
There have been numerous remakes of this game for various systems such as, Xbox, DS, Ipod, and not to mention those Mega Collection games. Anyways, come back next time, where I talk about the second Sonic game released. Sonic The Hedgehog 8 bit, which is different than the original.
