Hey guys first ever Gen V team.
Basically made this to vs my little brother.
I told him that I would only use pokemon with steel or dragon as a type.
We both agreed one Uber was allowed.
Ononokusu attracted my immediate attention as a definite member of my team.
So yes he is the star of Team SteelDragon.
Performance in Battle So Far
Now I have tested this team on Shoddy and suprisingly demolished my first opponent 5-0 with only my Skarmory falling victim to an absol with fire blast. As expected it was my Ononokusu who swept their team with 3 DDancers to his name and powerful STAB Dragon Claws. Also won the second battle 5-0 but that time starring with my Latias who got in only one Calm Mind but managed to tank through their team. My third and final test battle was a clean sweep:6-0, with my Empoleon this time being the one to beat. Switching in a Milotic I set up a few Agilities and then finishing it off with a grass knot. Eventually activated my Berry later on after Subbing and and using Agility and then I was set. Nothing could beat his powerful grass knots and Waterfall's XD
The Team at First Glance
A closer Look
Skarmory @ Leftovers
Nature: Sturdy
EV's: 252 HP/ 240 Def/ 16 Spe
Ability: Sturdy
Moves:
~ Stealth Rock
~ Whirlwind
~ Bravebird
~ Roost
Basic Skarmory Set. Skarmory can set up Stealth Rock which aids the rest of my team tremendously in helping them get their OHKO's easier. As well as Whirlwind away foes whom I can't handle. Skarmory is a nice surprise to Lead Machamps who would probably switch out giving me a free stealth rock set up or I might decide to Brave Bird him. Roost is there to heal my Skarmory from not only enemy damage but from Brave Bird damage. EV's add to his bulk which will help him in the long run in battles as well as a little speed which never hurts.
Forretress @ Leftovers
Nature: Relaxed
EV's: 252 HP/ 112 HP/ 144 Def
Ability: Sturdy
Moves:
~ Spikes
~ Rapid Spin
~ Earthquake
~ Gyro Ball
Basic Forretress set here. Spikes add another hazard that once again aids the rest of my team in what they do. Rapid Spin is there to get rid of enemy hazards which otherwise annoy my team. Gyro Ball gives a nice STAB attack and Earthquake is there for pokemon who resist Gyro Ball.
Empoleon @ Petaya Berry
Nature: Modest
EV's: 12 HP/ 252 Sp.A/ 244 Sp.D
Ability: Torrent
Moves:
~ Agility
~ Substitute
~ Waterfall
~ Grass Knot
This was my first time using an Empoleon so it was very interesting to see exactly what he could do. After looking at Smogon I found a set that I would love to use. Basically Substitute till Petaya Berry activates. With the Sp.A boost from the Berry as well as the Torrent Ability Empoleon reaches a very high special attack. During this time of Subbing I'd be hopefully getting in a couple Agilities which will help his sweep. Waterfall provides a strong STAB move as well as Grass Knot taking care of threatening water types such as Starmie and Gyarados as well as powerful ground and rock types such as Tyranitar and Hippowdon. The EV's once again are standard; maximising on his Special Attack which goes beautifully with all the boosts he will be getting. Special Defence EV's help him while he gets his first sub up and further help him in case he is still to slow in taking hits.
Latias @ Soul Dew
Nature: Timid
EV's: 112 HP/ 192 Spe/ 204 Sp.A
Ability: Levitate
Moves:
~ Calm Mind
~ Dragon Pulse
~ Recover
~ Thunder
Latias was my Uber of choice. With the boost of Soul Dew and a Calm Mind or two as well as a STAB Dragon Pulse this Pokemon becomes one to be feared. Dragon Pulse is my move of choice for obvious reasons. Thunder would help me against Water types such as Tentacruel and Starmie that I know my brother would be using. Recover gives some nice recovery when in need as I need her to stay in as long as possible. Her EV's are rather straight forward. Focusing on her Special Attack and Speed to get the advantage over her opponents as well as HP to aid her in lasting longer in battle.
Kingdra @ Life Orb
Nature: Rash
EV's: 208 HP/ 164 Spe/ 136 Sp.A
Ability: Swift Swim
Moves:
~ Rain Dance
~ Draco Meteor
~ Hydro Pump
~ Waterfall
Kingdra is my main fire pokemon check. My main strategy is to switch in on a fire pokemon and get Rain Dance up. With the boosted speed and attack in the rain Kingdra becomes a real threat. With a good move pool with all STAB moves Kingdra will not be short on moves to use. Waterfall would be my main move only using Hydro Pump when I feel I can get a OHKO or I feel that Waterfall wouldn't do enough damage. Draco Meteor works great against other Dragon Types.
Ononokusu @ Leftovers
Nature: Jolly
EV's: 252 HP/ 100 Atk/ 156 Def
Ability: Mold Breaker
Moves:
~ Dragon Dance
~ Dragon Claw
~ Earthquake
~ Shadow Claw
Ononokusu is simply beast with a base 147 Atk. Add in the attack EV's and a Dragon Dance or two and this guy will tear through my opponents. Dragon Claw is my STAB move and move of choice. Shadow Claw is what I would use against opposing Ghost types such as Gengar as well as it getting a higher critical hit rate. Because of the Dragon Dances it wasn't really necessary to invest so much EV's into his Attack stat but rather help him bulk up enough for him to set up.
Major Threat List:
Thunder Types: Naturally having steel as one of my main types it leaves a door wide open for a thunder type to set up on my steels. I would switch into my Latias or Ononokusu and smash them with a STAB'd draco meteor or dragon claw.
Ice Types: Once again having a few dragons lets ice types set up when I switch. I'd most probably switch to my Empoleon or Skarmory to deal with them.
Dragon Types: Dragon Types can be one of my biggest pains. When it comes down to two powerful Dragons it really matters who has the more speed. Which my pokemon might have troubles with.
Fire Types: True they walk through most of my pokemon but I do have two checks for them in Kingdra and Empoleon who can blast them away with their Water moves.
Hazards: Even though I do have a Spinner in Forry I have trouble actually getting him onto the field. Out of my battles not only with this set but with others with Forry as a spinner I've had to continually force my pokemon to play on with spikes and stealth rocks still present.
So this team certainly surprised me in its success to date and I'd love to know how to check its progress on Shoddy etc if anyone could tell me XD. So far with a 3-0 winning ratio I'd say it's done decent and been my most successful team to date (still a newbie )
