The Ultimate Gaming Computer?

Alright so it's a given fact that PC gaming is becoming 10x more popular every year and I just have some questions that pretty much any console gaming convert would have! So I have been doing a lot of research and have been trying to build the best and most future-proof PC build that won't break the bank too too much! So I guess the main question is if this will do the trick in terms of having a reliable gaming machine at least for the foreseeable future?

Motherboard: (SLI/CrossFireX Support) MSI X79A-GD45 Plus Intel X79 Chipset Quad Channel DDR3 ATX Mainboard w/ Winki 3, OC Genie II, 7.1 HD Audio, GbLAN, 3 Gen3 PCIe X16 & 4 PCIe X1
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7990 6GB 16X PCIe 3.0 Dual GPU Video Card
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-4820K Quad-Core 3.70 GHz 10MB Intel Smart Cache LGA2011
Memory: 16GB (4GBx4) DDR3/2133MHz Quad Channel Memory
OS: Microsoft® Windows 8 Pro (64-bit Edition)
Hard Drive: 2 TB

Total Cost: $1700

There might be cheaper options that won't reduce performance and visuals to the point where it is noticeable, but it's definitely solid. Get a 120Hz monitor if you want to have real fun!

Question about backing up your eshop data?

If you backup your save data then have to remove the game itself from your SD card but still have the game backed up from your last save would you still be able to continue if you re download the game later on? For example. Say you had to clear some space to make room for Pokemon X/Y since they carry 14,000 blocks per version and you backed up Metroid 1 and 2 and Super Mario Bros 2 but had to remove them back to the eshop but their save files are still intact from when you last backed them up Would you be able to continue them if you re download the games in the future? I am wondering for future reference. Thanks XD.:)

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

I'm pretty sure you can, since the purchase/downloads are logged to the DS system, not the SD card...provided you make the save file backup first, of course.

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

I have so if I were to remove the games the files would still be there? Just want to make sure if I ever have to do this cause in 3 days I am downloading Pokemon XD. I have just enough space to get both from the eshop XD.:)

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

...They have Pokemon XD in the E-shop? Since when?

And you should be able to check via Account Settings (?) in the E-Shop if your save files are there. I haven't actually done this myself, but based on what I saw about that update, it saves a backup of your save file to your E-Shop account to be re-downloaded later in case of loss.

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

I meant Pokemon X. Sorry XD. No what I mean is if I complete the games then back up the games as they are right now. Meaning completed to the end of the game then have them saved in the restore point and then back them up while they are still completed would removing the game wipe out the saved file even if backed up or would I have to start all over if I re download the game later? Meaning if I remove the game it goes back to the eshop download it again the saved completed data would be lost if I download it again? Would the saved data stay intact if I back it up first or would I have to do everything over again? That is what I am trying to ask? Hard to explain in text XD.:)

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

Another alternative is getting a second SD card. Just switch SD cards when you want to play the other DLC. If you're worried about losing data, just make a complete copy of the first SD card on your computer then put it on the new on. After that, delete what you don't need on the second (through the 3DS) and add the new games. The 3DS cant tell SD cards apart, but the data is store with a different encryption on each systems (so you cant move SD cards from one 3ds to another without wiping it first). If you don't have much data on either, you can actually technically use the same SD card for both 3DS's data (if you REALLY wanted to, but it's not beneficial in any way), but one system's data storage would cut into what was available for the second to store on.

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

I don't need another card ATM . I just wanted to know if it was possible to save your progress back it up where I left off remove the games if I have to and re download them and still continue where I last left off. Can this be done?:)

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

well, you could just save a copy of your SD card's data to your computer and back it up that way. All you will need to do later is copy the then-current data to another backup and restore your first backup. The data will all be there as if you hadn't deleted anything in the first place (and it's faster than re-downloading)

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

So you are saying even though I removed the game itself the save data would not exist if I were to just remove the games even though the data has already been backed up on the 3DS? That does not make sense. Has anyone tried this XD?:)

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

What I'm trying to say is that if you copy the SD card data to your PC, it's like cloning the SD card. If you put the data back on that SD card (or another) it will be as if nothing was changed since the act of copying the data. All downloaded games (and their backups) will be in the copied SD card data, so you don't have to worry about whether or not the backups are deleted with the associated programs.

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

I know that. I am talking about if I manually delete the games themselves from the SD card so they go back to the eshop list. I am not talking about formatting the whole 3DS. I was just asking about manual deletion XD. I want to make sure of this in case I ever need to do this method of deleting and I want to make sure all backups will leave me exactly where I last left off if I have to manually delete some data XD. Thanks man.:)

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

We're probably just failing to communicate. I believe I understand what you're trying to say, but something is getting messed up when we try to 'decypher' the other's response (not that anything's all that confusing. we're probably just not following some of each other's wording in some areas). It seems you understood what I said (I just couldn't tell if you were initially saying "Ah, OK. That works" or if you were looking for a different type of answer), so I'll stop dragging this out :/

RE: Question about backing up your eshop data?

So if I were to manually delete the games from the 3DS then the back save would be exactly where I left off it I ever have to download them on a later date? Just want to make sure because I do not want to start fresh after they were deleted without know if this works or not. Thanks XD.:)

Has anyone bought a tablet?

My girlfriend is looking for a tablet for her 8 year daughter. She doesn't want to spend more than $200.

Wants
watch youtube videos
play android games
watch netflix
listen to music
7in screen minimum
camera a plus

We checked out the kindle fire at our local best buy and it seemed to do about everything except a webcam.

Does anyone have any recommendations?

RE: Has anyone bought a tablet?

Pandigital makes cheap android tablets but sometimes downloads on them fail and are not supported on google play.

RE: Has anyone bought a tablet?

I would not get Kindle Fire because Amazon controls too much of its functions.

It would satisfy all your needs. There are plenty of 3rd party sites for apps, so you do not need Google Play. But Pandigital is gone, they declare bankruptcy about 6 months ago.

Look into Google Nexus.

RE: Has anyone bought a tablet?

The Google Nexus is going to cost you a little over $200, but it's one of the best tablets out there that I've seen around your price range. Something in your price range and specifications would be the Galaxy Tab 3 7", but it acts like it's severely outdated compared to other tablets out on the market. The camera on the Tab 3 is mediocre to say the least, so that's something to make note of. Since it's for an eight year old girl, I don't think she'll find the problems with the Tab 3 7" too noticeable. Ultimately it's up to if your girlfriend is willing to dish out extra money from her purse for the better device.

Galaxy Tab 7" 8GB: ~$180
Google Nexus 7 16GB: ~$220
