ORAS The Battle Frontier in OR / AS

Anyhow, in general it would be criminal not to see the frontier return, so I think it's only a question of whether it'll be in ORAS or some game after that. Though only showing up in a Kalos-sequel but not Hoenn would be weird, so that would only make sense if they did another Hoenn-game this gen.

It would be a big selling point for ORAS in my eyes though (even though they'd probably also copy&paste it into the follow-up games of gen 6 xD)

I wouldn't be surprised if they simply copy/pasted the Battle Frontier, Contests, and Secret Bases into Z as a quick way to add more content.

I'd actually love it if Pokemon Z had all that! I don't think they'd do secret bases though.

Ugh, no. That's exactly the kind of minimalism that makes me not want to buy ORAS, just copy/pasting features around between games instead of coming up with something new and unique.

See, I like it when features I enjoy return, and I'm sad to see them go when they don't come back. I hope contests are something every game has from now on, and that they improve it as it goes. Same with the battle frontier, I want to see one in every game from now on and have it be improved on in every generation. (I don't mind the copy and pasting in the same generation) I don't think secret bases will return because they are so much a part of hoenn, but I still hope bases come back in some way, just not like how they did in sinnoh. I like this new pseudo-gym feature, and I think next gen they could improve it even more!

Personally, I feel like they only add to these side features in games and improve them. Contests have come a long way since they first came out and so has secret bases. They sound and look amazing now. Its why I want the battle frontier to come back.. Because it would be amazing!!! I'm hoping it gets the same treatment as both contests and secret bases.

Features are something that tend to have to stick, depending what they are. HGSS's features, Pokemon following you and the pokeathlon, couldn't be brought back because it required so much artwork, coding and information. There are over 700 Pokemon now, they'd have to program in so much artwork just to have them follow you and rebuild the pokeathlon! However, I find most features come back and are only minimally tweaked. Friend safari, bug catching contest... They are all just forms of the safari zone made different ways.

Every gen comes up with new features, and they tend to role over. The split between special and physical attacks, breeding, the addition of natures and abilities, mega evolutions, etc. Those were all features introduced in different generations. It would be a shame if they got rid of all of those because they were just "reusing old features"!

There aren't very many new features introduced that don't come back in some way, and even while including the old features, they still add new features! I'm curious Bolt, do you want to see the battle frontier return? Yes or no, and what would you do to it, or what's something you'd like to see instead?

If that's the only thing they're going to add to Z, though, that would be the laziest game ever. People don't buy games just to do the same things they did before, that's boring, insane, and a waste of money. Gameplay consistency is always a good thing, and I think it's something Game Freak needs to do more of, but not if it means they're just moving around the same 5 gameplay features in different games, they need to continually do new things to keep people's interest.

Battle mechanics are a whole different animal, because they're more essential to the gameplay, it'd be a huge loss if they removed them.

I'm kinda neutral on it, it'd be nice to have, but I tend not to use them that much.

@ bold call of duty, pokemon, zelda every sports game ever, the sims, almost every fighting game, every shooter.if the next gen of pokemon had nothing new ( save for new pokemon) you'd still buy it.

This is about discussing the battle frontier not how games reuse old things in new games

We are so off topic but Bolt... That's almost every game I've ever seen. They have the same features and expand on them... Every generation of pokemon has something new though. Maybe its customization, or Pokemon contests or new types, you can't really separate many of the mechanics and the features very easily. Sometimes there are more new mechanics, sometimes more new features. There isn't a single generation that hadn't added something, I don't think you need to worry. And people always by Pokemon games, shoot lots of people buy two! So whatever they are doing is working. But to keep on topic, what would they have to do to the frontier for you to br interested or excited for it? What would they have to add or change?

maybe an extra facitly for inverse battles ( or make that an extra battle option for secret bases inverse battle gym O.O take my money)

The summit of the Battle Pyramid would look amazing in 3D.

And yes, it would be cool if they added a facility for inverse battles.

I almost wonder if that's why they had that one inverse battle in X/Y to begin with, sort of like the battle tents in emerald, maybe it was a preview and a hint at something new they'll have in the frontier?

If inverse battles are in the frontier, it might mean a whole new frontier instead of a remake. Which would upset a lot of people. I never played the emerald frontier so it would behsrd for me to miss it, but I certainly want something that rivals the hoenn frontier in size.

The more I think about it, the more inverse battles make sense as a frontier thing....

I never thought of it possibly being a preview :O it would make a lot of sense.

I'm sure I would enjoy it regardless, but I hope they'd add an inverse battle facility instead of making a completely new frontier, because I really liked Emerald's...they added to secret bases and contests instead of completely reformatting them, so at least there seems to be a good chance of adding to the frontier as well.
