Method is irrelevant. Design is everything. (damn that sounds good. I now have the creed for when I make my own religion)
Your entry could be drawn in a napkin for all we care, if you make good calls and do. your. research. you'll be fine.

Pretty sure I haven't improved artistically since I was like 5 or something. Mine's pretty bad.

Look, since you haven't played the games, I'll throw you a bone. Go and nicely ask someone experienced in stats and moves and battling and work with them.
If you just want to submit something crap because you already have immunity, go ahead, but I'd do the above (I already have

No, I actually intend to try to make something decent. The reason for my making that post was (ugh I hope you realise. please.).
And yes, I do have friends who know competitive/other detailed stuff about Pokemon.

I had a dream last night where I had an epiphany about this game. In it, I completely scrapped my current idea and started working on "Cornicorn" a Grass/Fairy type unicorn made out of vegetables. Now I really wish I could do that.

I had a dream last night that I was driving a car and the breaks wouldn't work, so I just had to keep driving and nearly crashed a bunch of times. Then the breaks started working but I was stuck down a dead-end one way street, where I was forced to watch some kind of pool vollyball.
