And this matters why? What does this have to do with word count? Giving RG the disadvantage sets her behind, since she's probably already started.

Because she has more time to write; it's easier for her to add stuff because she has time to think about it/research.

Next item is a weird one. You are buying the ability to reduce one of your opponent's points by the number of points you bought the item for. Essentially, you are paying for the ability to make one of your opponents waste their points (ie. Dammit, I worked hard in the coal mines for those points. I was going to feed my children with those points.

Now they'll starve.

But I won't fight for this round's prize, not worth it to me IMO.

Once again, you are bidding on forcing someone to choose their topic last. You cannot choose James, RG or Celever.
