RE: The Challenge: Season 5

Well. That is rather amazing, Athena,

PG24 is it possible to order the rest of them, as well as post the rest of the submissions? I'm just interested to see both where I rank and what the others look like! :)

(And for the love of good spoiler that picture. It broke safari...)

RE: The Challenge: Season 5

Since James didn't post the final, only the process, here you guys go so you can see the final product:

James? PG24's name is James? *shock horror*

No, WW and PG24 are not the same person. That was my first thought when I heard PG24's irl name a few weeks ago.

RE: The Challenge: Season 5

Seriously, though. That is really good, Athena. It was obvious you would win immunity again (I mean you were the Diamonds' resident artist, lol)

*le sigh*

RE: The Challenge: Season 5

Can we all just post our creations here? IK that compared to Athena's they probably won't look that great, but it'll still be fun to see them all. I'll get on a computer to post mine in a moment.

Notice the 3D, 4D, and 5D techniques I've used to make this picture a truly professional piece of art. All of the elements used within are secret strategies the very best drawers use in their everyday works. Wow... Fantastic! : ^ )

RE: The Challenge: Season 5

I must admit that I also had something of an additional advantage since my husband is a master at MSPaint. I've forgotten the vast majority of the tricks and tips that he's taught me, but I remember a good number, too, and the software is a much more powerful tool when you can unlock its true potential. Sure, it's no Photoshop, but there's some tricks that are actually legitimately cool, like creating gradients (which I totally would have done for the lotus petals if I remembered how) and other cool shit. Mostly I just used simpler things like psuedo-transparency, line customization, and other things to make it more photoshop-esque. The real biggest drawback to MSPaint is the 3 undo limit. I ended up creating a lot of backup images, which was how I had all those in-progress images to create the time line.

RE: The Challenge: Season 5

I only used the pencil and fill tools though, as PG24 had that as one of the instructions IIRC.

Anyway, my computer is still not free...

Nah, that wasn't what I was implying. I was just surprised.

I don't want to post mine because I put almost zero effort into it :/

RE: The Challenge: Season 5

So believe it or not I actually worked hard on this challenge with Drohn, and we went through a bunch of Pokémon. My first creation wasn't too bad...
fmmnpi.jpg
But Drohn didn't really like it. So I made another one...
nfmjk7.jpg
I am actually a huge fan of chick-foo, but it is a very generic Fighting-Type and both Drohn and I felt that I could do better. I tried again, but this one Drohn really hated...
svs49c.jpg
So I then used the same scribble to create Glant here. The idea being that it is just a 4-fingered glove, with the thumb being an entity. I worked on the thing for quite a while, so here are all of my uploads of Glant. Hopefully you can see how the idea progressed into having it be more of a puppet master

(personally my favourite of the three is the second one)

After we saw Glant and decided that it just wasn't working... Well, Drohn wanted to continue with the idea, but as I preferred the second one and he obviously did not I called it a night. The next day I created an improved version of Chick-foo, the best on I had created thus far:

Even then, Drohn felt I could do a lot better. So I made up an entirely new scribble and made a Pokémon out of it. Here is how the final idea evolved (the final one just has some minor tweaks to add a little more detail):

And Banatee as my final submission. While on Glant I edited the scribble as well as just the Pokémon, I did no such thing with Banatee, so overall the concept feels more... complete. I don't know :p

RE: The Challenge: Season 5

Which leads to the following question (no hints Celever!): What is the black part of the final drawing?

Nowhere does he say anything like that; the closest is that he tells you to use the pen tool for the scribble. The only restriction for the fakemon is that it was also done in MSPaint.

lel Apple. no wonder you had trouble with the last challenge.

okay, go download something like Paint.Net. just find something with the pen and a fill bucket tools.

I took this to mean as this was all you could use. Maybe he meant it's all you need?

RE: The Challenge: Season 5

Pretty sure that's just all you need, considering nowhere in the actual rules or description of the challenge does he say anything about that. And he could have easily edited it in after the fact since he did edit in later bits regarding your questions.
