The question is simple, do you play with Cleffa HGSS or CoL, or Manaphy UL for hand refresh? I currently play with Cleffa, because it does not require an energy for it's attack, and I get 6 cards instead of 5, also it has the Sweet Sleeping Face Poke-body, which is good. I would test with Manaphy, but I don't have any. While Cleffa is prone to donks and Catcher knockouts, Manaphy has 20 more HP, though it gets one less card, requires an energy and doesn't have the Sweet Sleeping Face Poke-body. When you post in this thread please post which one you use (if any) and why.

Actually, Manaphy has 30 more HP. And I play Manaphy. It may require an energy, but all other benefits outweigh Cleffa. Plus, you have the chance not to be able to use Cleffa again on your turn. It also gives your opponent the opportunity to "bank" a prize. If they leave it on your bench, they can kill it late-game ftw.

I prefer Manaphy. Even though it costs one energy to refresh your hand, it can't get donked easily like Cleffa.
A lot of the losses at Nationals were because of Cleffa donks, so I'd suggest running Manaphy.

Manaphy is better in many, probably most decks, but some decks really need Cleffa. google's deck needs Cleffa, and the chance of starting with it is slim, and if you do start with Cleffa, you may also start with another Pokemon. The reason there were many donks at Nats was because people were running 2-4 Cleffa. Know people run 1.

I prefer Manaphy as I will summarize the pros of Cleffa and Manaphy below; and the cons next.

Pros (Cleffa)

-Free retreat
-No weakness
-No energy required
-Sweet sleeping Baby (no damage if you're asleep)

Pros (Manaphy)

-Won't get Yanmega/Tyrogue/Kingdra/idc donked
-Free Retreat
-60 HP, enough to put it out of Yanmega+Kingdra donk
-More durable
-Won't be a free prize later in game
-Great for Magnezone decks

Cons (Cleffa)

-Donked easily
-Low HP
-Flippy

Con's (Manaphy)

-Requires an energy to attack
-Has a weakness

Actually, Manaphys is better for Yanmega decks because Yanma has a free retreat, meaning you don't have to attach to retreat, and can use your attachment on Manaphy. Otherwise, if you start witha Magnemite, an run Manaphy, you cant get a T1 new hand.
