True but you get 6 boxes for 250$ while you get 2 boxes for that much in english sets. 120 packs vs 72 packs, and superior quality. Realistically you can sell all the cards you pull from a japanese box for profit since you get what, 3-4 ex a box and they sell at >10$ usually or more if full art. I just find US cards over priced in general. That being said I haven't bought a japanese box past the neo series yet, I'm just assuming that's the pull rate.
For the BW-era Japanese boxes, you get 2 EXes per box. FAs are, I believe, 1 in 2 boxes, and Shinies are 1 in 3. Usually 1 ACE SPEC per box for the series that have those cards. So, not quite as high as you're estimating, but still significantly better than English pull rates, considering the Japanese boxes are 20 packs each and about €20 per box, not counting shipping fees.

I'm missing something like 10-15 ex cards across EVERYTHING (bar the three odd I forgot to pull out of the folders) and 1 star card. Sets + decks + promos party hardy.
Poor things; this is probably the most loved these folders have been in a while. I need to go back and fill in my gaps so I can have closure on these two eras, and the decks associated.

About a month ago, I calculated that there are about 585 ultra rare pokemon TCG cards, up to Genosect EX. English/Japanese- this includes EX, secret ultra rares (pikachu BW or Dragon Charmander), LV X, Legend, Prime, shiny, crystal, *, shining, FA, etc. Of those I curretnly own 523. Most of those I am missing have not yet been released in English. Add to that my vast collection of pokemon shirts (at least 30), pokemon manga (most English versions), anime (most of the boxsets), plush (at least 400 when I counted a year ago), figures at least 600 when I counted a year ago, official badges, all major video games and some of the spin-offs, at least 9 bags, 1 pair of sneakers I can actually fit into (kids size 3), bedroom shoes, 2 jackets, 4 costumes, several socks/PJs/shorts, plus 3 sets of full size bedding......um I think I may be addicted to "collecting them all" the pokemon!

From my old Neo 2 box I pulled like 8 Scizors 4 Umbreona 5 Himontops 4 Tyranitars 6 Wobbuffets and 3 Dark Raichus. I can't the others but I never got any Espeon, Yanma, Politoed, Butterfree or Beedrill, or Houndour or Magnemite. Lots of the others though and surprised at 3 Dark Raichus. Wish I still had then though... As of today only 6 of those holos I listed remains...
But honestly Japanese boxes > English boxes. When BW came out Japanese packs no longer guaranteed holos every pack but it still is a better deal and chance at pulling ultra rares and holos. I think each box is guaranteed 10 R cards but doesn't mean for certain you'll get SR or UR.
Anyway... Love that web series set, wish I owned the base set reprints.
I know what you mean, I just opened a gym heroes box and only got one Erika's Vileplume - it was insane. Some of the trainers were hard to hunt down as well - except for the banned misty's tears, I actually pulled over 15 of them...great.
Same with base set, I didn't get a poliwhirl or a charmeleon + every farfetch'd I got was scratched on the back + missed about 10 trainers. Got a ton of duplicates though. The funniest is when I opened it and was super confused the whole time as to why I got no energies haha.
