The concept of fun

i'll be honest in the fact that i'm guilty of playing to win, I'm always aiming for number 1 but in my defence i never play cards that are "needed" i.e. claydol, can some-one tell me why you "need" claydol to win to be honest i don't see it i know how he helps and that constant draw power is awesome but people claiming he makes decks "consistant" if you want a consistant deck then work on the consistancy and your card balance, please don't just turn around and say "this deck really needs a 2-2 claydol going in"
also i'd like to add that my best so far is number 2 because i always topcut against net-deckers

For anyone who thinks that RS gives a good idea of deck speed, it doesn't. Yes, this is pretty much a t2-t3 format. If you don't set up by then, your in for a rough game.

As for the whole play for fun thing. I have fun when I'm in an epic tough match using the best deck I can find. I will admit to having a tendency to like very complex decks that offer a lot of options, so many "fun" decks just aren't all that fun to me.

Best game of the year for me - last round of swiss, I was 5-2 against Orian Craig(last years nats senior champ). It was my Dialga/Gallade/Honchkrow vs his Legos. Not exactly what someone would usually think of as fun decks, but I LOVED it. It was hard, it was nasty, it was long, and it was FUN! Where is the fun if I can't make the super awesome move that I've been planing for turns to take the win? Personally, I see nothing wrong with "fun" decks, but I think that they should just be kept for league. This way you get the best of both worlds. You can use your wacky deck at league, and use your good deck at tourneys. :D

This is the thread i've been waiting for. I get very nervous(like, hands-shaking-through-a-whole-tournament nervous), but whenever I go to league and play my Uxie/Starmie/Crobat G/Unown R deck, or maybe SP toolbox W/Mightyena, i get very relaxed, as though the sheer fun-ness of playing these decks calms me.

just my .02$

i have fun when im in a real game when im under pressure and have to make good plays to win i dont have fun playing a meta deck against a deck that was made just for fun.
its quite boring and makes me feel bad.(played 2 dads at nats and didnt have fun explaing how i was beating him so fast=[)
i dont like playing decks just for fun because the fun doesnt come from the deck but from the opponent.(at least for me)
