The Elder Scrolls Discussion

RE: The Elder Scrolls

By the time you're level 81, most players are just an unstoppable spellsword character, so for me it really boils down to what you want to specialize in first and then improve upon later.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

Not really, there's WAY more advanced enemies to fight (Dragur Death lords, legendary dragons, etc.). The Forsworn ravagers are pretty brutal too if they land any hits. Really you just kill stuff faster.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

Even still, you should be proficient in both combat and magic skills by the time you face those enemies.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

Or you could just be like me and have uber-enchanted armor and weaponry and shiz. That might work.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

Lol. How do you play the game as a thief?

Wouldn't your combat skills suck?

RE: The Elder Scrolls

Certain perks raise your stealth based combat skills, such as stabbing someone in the back with a dagger while hidden. Mage/Thief builds are super fun to play at later levels.

WHAT WHAT no, LoS doesn't matter much and you can easily OHKO mobs. Dual wield dagger/archer burgs are BA with full arrow view I feel like an assassin with a scope.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

Maybe I'll pick up some archery skills. It's fun. I wouldn't totally mind if I had an assault rifle though...
Oh god Skyrim with guns..

RE: The Elder Scrolls

^That idea has sadly crossed my mind many times. Always when I'm facing an Elder Dragon.
See, I'm pretty OP in Apprentice, lol at Novice, so Adept is more of my difficulty. But yeah, I have an enormous Archery, Sneak, One-Handed, Enchanting, Two-Handed, Lockpicking, and Heavy Armor skill level. I feel accoplished. Now to actually kill Alduin before Level 60. Which is in 15 levels. Great.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

So which side do you guys take generally? This is the source of big debates on UESP forums. (The Mer lovers on that site are passionate ones) Man Versus Mer or Beast.

Which side do y'all choose? Give reasoning behind it too.
I generally go for the side of men/Empires of Man.

wot. Why is mer vs. man even a debate? I don't see anything in it really, other then the straightforward cocky Elves that harass man.

You wouldn't last 5 seconds on the UESP forums. If you've read the lore of TES you'd know neither side, man or mer, has clean hands.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

I just play for the fun, I'm no person of lore. TES really doesn't evoke any sort of "I want to know more" feelings in me. (Actually, I know a bit of lore) I think really the only thing I can think of when man had done something terrible was with the Snow Elves.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

It is, but it's more modern world. And I don't think there's armor? I know guns fo sho tho.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

But theres dragons and such? Is it post apocolyptic?

Speaking of which, Skyrim is in an alternate universe completely separate from ares right?...

Don't answer that.. lol
I can see how that was stupid. I don't even think i can delete that it was so dumb. HA

RE: The Elder Scrolls

Skyrim =/= Fallout, they are alike in open world but not alike together.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

The newer Fallout and Elder scrolls games are very similar. They're both open world RPG's with skill sets and perks, different weapons, armor, and plenty of quests to do. I actually like Fallout more than Elder Scrolls for a few reasons, mostly because I'm a sucker for anything with a post-apocalyptic theme and it provides some of the best examples for true atmosphere in a video game. You can pick up Fallout 3 and New Vegas (with all DLC included) for dirt cheap in some places, and I highly suggest you do so.

RE: The Elder Scrolls

Fallout is a Apocalyptic RPG. Modern and takes place in US. Think WW3 type stuff. Nuclear warfare. Countries decimated. Has perks like Skyrim (Skyrim actually took ITS perk system from Fallout replacing the old skills system used in Oblivion and older Elder Scrolls games)

Worlds are not related though.

TES is always apocalyptic in some form or another or an empire(s) is about to collapse. Some champion of the Gods or Daedra comes to help.

Skyrim: Alduin, World Eater. Aldmeri Dominion.
Novels: Umbriel, collapse of the Empire. Aldmeri Dominion rises. Final "end" of the Tribunal/ALMSIVI
Oblivion: Mankar Camoran and Mehrunes Invasion of Nirn.
Morrowind: Dagoth Ur, House Dagoth, Numidium 2, and the Blight. End of Tribunal/ALMSIVI
Daggerfall: Numidium, Warp in the West.
Arena: Imperial Simulacrum.
