A shield helps with Stalfos, but I don't think it's required with some artful dodging. ;)

Not sure where you're located, but ALBW retails for the standard $39.99 in the US.

Europe. I was wondering of the e-shop price (too bored to check). Thanks for the info nonetheless.
And Stalfos can be beat with dodging, but it's harder and can't beat that good-old-fashioned Hyrule shield.

I went to two stores to buy the game on Monday but it was sold out in both. :/ Oh well, I wouldn't have played it yet anyway but meh.

I rented it and loved it, everyone who has been singing the praises of this game is right on the money. Once you hit the second half of the game you have free reign to go literally anywhere you want, the item rental system was kind off-putting at first because I like me some dungeon treasures but I got used to it after a while. It's kinda overwhelming being like an hour in and having your inventory full of stuff.

I agree that the Tornado Rod is one of the best, if not the best, items in the game. If you're fighting singular enemies I like the Sand Rod better since it stuns just as well as the Tornado Rod (good for shielded enemies) except without the huge lag at the end.

If I had bought it I definitely would have tried a minimalist hero quest. Good Zelda game, definitely a worthy sequel.

Its been a while, but I'm pretty sure the Item rental is like a call back to the original Legend of Zelda, along with being able to complete whichever dungeon you want.

Except the original Zelda had dungeon treasures, too.

I liked being able to complete dungeons in any order; it wasn't until I had saved after the first two that I realized I was doing them out of order, and that made me smile a bit.

They kinda messed up the continuity with this game, as at the end of ALttP, it says the Master Sword was never used again, but this game takes place AFTER aLttP (unlike OOT), so they messed up.

I don't like how birds-eye-view it is. IMO, that style works fine with sprites, but that's because they can draw in Links face and feet, unlike with a 3D Model, where you can only see the top of Links head the entire time.

It is a 'lil confusing, but they didn't mess it up because it says:
"And the Master Sword sleeps again.... forever."
So since LBW takes place centuries after LttP, the Master Sword was never touched again by the people who lived during aLttP, or their children, or theirs.

To me, when I hear forever, I don't think of eternity, I only think of how far my mind can fathom, which is only around 100 years, because that's all I'll be around for.

So you can look at this way, grandparents are telling the story to all the little village kids of the great hero who saved the world when the grandparents were kids, (Link, from A Link to the Past) and when finishing the story instead of saying,' and they lived happily forever after', they say that the master sword slept forever. (Because it hasn't been used since)

But than 200-500 years later, the events of A Link Between Worlds happened and the Master Sword was than needed again.

I bought the game a few days ago but have only gotten around to play an hour or so. I'll play a bit more tomorrow.

Since a new thread for the whole LoZ series has been created here I'm closing this thread. Please post anything related to ALBW to the new thread. Thanks!
