RE: The Manliest Nuzlocke (Yellow) - Chapter 9 (DIEINGGG)
Banned for forgetting in Yellow he has a completely different team. Now you have to spend quite a bit of time to level up a flyer. Good luck taking on Team Rocket in Saffron City. You'll probably have to use the hospital room 50 times.
RE: The Manliest Nuzlocke (Yellow) - Chapter TEN, DUDES
Hmmm...someone should have warned you that set-damage-attacks (like Dragon Rage and Night Shade) completely ignored the type-chart in Gen I. Yeah, that would have helped...sorry about that :[
EDIT: helpful hint; in Gen I, critical hit chances were based on the Pokemon's Speed, not so much random (trololololol Scyther with Slash).
RE: The Manliest Nuzlocke (Yellow) - Chapter 12 (twelve is the sexiest number)
Chapter Twelve: Melissa Joan Hart
I haven't actually done the burned-out building in years, so I got lost a couple times. It was awesome. \m/ Anyway I remember there are like 80 item balls on the ground but fortunately they doubled up with stuff I already had in my inventory so I didn't have to junk anything to make room for the Secret Key. ESCAPE ROPE
So I learned that in Yellow you are forced to take the quizzes (in RB you can just challenge the trainers by speaking to them instead of getting the question wrong). I thought that was kinda neat, but I didn't want to risk not being able to fight the trainer for answering them correctly.
Not like it would matter anyway. Xander blew through everyone; Blaine didn't stand a chance. The only difficult part was his Rapidash Fire Spin trolling me for like 12 turns, but they did crap damage each hit so BADGE GET.
Nothing to do but go lay waste to Viridian City's gym, but I'm not going there just yet. First of all, there's a group of swimmers begging to give me their money just east of here, and I want to explore Route JustBeforeVictoryRoad and see what Pokemon I can find.
And boy oh boy what a discovery. Nidorino pokes his head out and is like LOL HI and I'm like LOL CAPTURED.
Nidoking is probably the manliest-looking Pokemon gen 1 has to offer. If not the manliest, he is definitely in the top 5. Such a pillar of manliness is so secure that he would not mind having a less-than-manly name. So I named him Clarissa and instantly evolved him. NIDOKIIIIIIIIIIIIIING RAWRRRRRRRRRRGBFLBKJFBLBBBLL.
Now, those of you who have ever used Nidoking in gen 5 will know he can learn, like, everything. Same is true in gen 1. I blow 3 TMs on him - Rock Slide, Ice Beam, and Earthquake. I kept Poison Sting just to have a Poison STAB move for trolling, and there's really nothing else to give him (Thunderbolt would just be dancing with the devil, considering I have Rock Slide for birds already, and I need to save it in case Takeshi dies).
Aside: Rock Slide has one of the quirkiest and coolest sound effects in all of gen 1. I cannot for the life of me find a .wav of it because I'd like to share it so if anyone can find a site that has attack sound effects for gen 1, please let me know.
Okay. So I go back to the burned-out building since that's the last place I was. I kill like 30 Pokemon there and level up exactly once. I then realize that the level 41 Nidorino I found stomps the colons of all these level thirty-something losers. So I head back to Route JBVR and kill things there. Three kills and Clarissa's up another level. Awesome. After I get Clarissa up a couple more levels I decide to quickly take care of the people east of Cinnabar. Then I'll grind a bit before wasting Giovanni since once I beat him I'll have to face Gary before I get to Victory Road.
I am at Seafoam Islands right now. The end is in sight (kind of, it's a speck on the horizon)!
This explains what happened, pretty much, and I suggest you watch it (you can spare twelve seconds).
Okay, so I did a bit of grinding, and decided that I would be better off fighting in Victory Road. To do that, I'd have to take on Giovanni. After all, Xander's a beast mode and Surf is gonna kill everyone, right? Right?
Oh me. I so silly.
VS GIOVANNI
He led off with Dugtrio L50. First thing I thought of was OH GOD I'M TRAPPED but then I remembered I led with Xander and then I remembered that no Arena Trap. So cool. Of course he outspeeds and goes underground. I miss. He hits with Dig for about half, and Surf OHKOs. I'm in good shape.
Persian, that slimy mother of all mothers, is up next, L53. Okay fine. I switch to Samantha to put it to sleep, and Giovanni uses a Guard Special on him. Loser. Okay fine. I hit Sleep Powder. He uses Double Team and I'm like fffff. Of course I miss, and try again, only to be met with a Persian at full life with a +2 Evade. The next 10-15 turns are spent with me switching around trying to land a hit and healing up but of course he has Screech and Fury Swipes too, not to mention Slash which (of course) may as well have the effect of landing a crit every single time. I even try to troll with a Poison Sting (it actually hit) but no poison. After a few more turns, Twilight gets in there and nails him for the KO with Body Slam.
Nidoqueen time L53. Oh man big guns. Samantha handles this pretty easily. No evasion horse crap means Sleep Powder hits. I switch to Twilight for Fire Spin trolling and Nidoqueen wakes up instantly. Well great. Back to Samantha to take a menacing Tail Whip (Jesus no!), sleep her again. Go to Xander this time for the KO. She wakes up as I Surf, and it does good damage, easily a 2hko. I just gotta take a hit. What's she gonna do?
Enemy Nidoqueen used Thunder!
OH GOD WHY DIDN'T I SEE THIS COMING PLEASE XANDER SURVIVE
of course he does and Surf knocks her right out. Nidoking time. Lawdy. Here we go.
Figure I'll start with the same exact plan: sleep, surf. Switch to Samantha and eat a Leer. I'm wary of Thunder though because if Nidoqueen had it, Nidoking probably will too. Sleep goes off without a hitch and I heal up Xander. Nidoking snores on as I bring him in. I click Surf and he wakes up. Easy 2hko, same as before.
Time for uber death. Samantha takes Xander's place, using her sexy pose to force Nidoking to do nothing but Leer all day, she overloads a Sleep Powder and shoots it all down Nidoking's throat. As he closes his eyes for the last time I can hear him begin to choke on the spores. Too bad, Nidoking. Clarissa has deemed you a traitor and enters the fray, ready for blood. He stomps around, causing the biggest earthquake anyone has ever seen. Stalagmites shoot out from the ground and tear into Nidoking's meaty flesh. Clarissa roars as his foe is run through, and Giovanni orders a brand new change of pants.
One more obstacle. Rhydon. At first I think, okay this is easy. But then I remembered about Horn Drill, and I realize he's kinda got me in a checkmate position.
I could Earthquake him here, but I don't know if it would OHKO. I'd certainly go first, but if it doesn't KO, Clarissa is dead. I will need him to take on Agatha so it is imperative I keep him alive. Switching to Renee is out of the question. I'm not gonna lose her to Horn Drill. Xander's dead (would have been the perfect switch here...), and Takeshi and Twilight are equally useless against him. It seems like Samantha is my only option, but she's also my only real answer to Rhydon. If I switch into Horn Drill, well, that's gonna suck monkey balls. But it's all I can do. Samantha, I believe in you. You can do this. LIVE:
*switch*
Enemy Rhydon used Rock Slide!
My sigh of relief could be heard for miles. Easy KO here. I won't risk Sleep Powder missing and I am totally going first.
Samantha used Mega Drain!
(Rhydon trollfaces as he lives with 1 HP)
Enemy Rhydon used Horn Drill!
ARE YOU SERIOUS NO
Samantha's unaffected!
Mega Drain seals the deal. EIGHTH BADGE GET!
But my victory is bittersweet. We have lost a comrade...
This couldn't have happened at a worse time. I can't get to Victory Road without fighting Gary, and he's going to curb stomp my team into submission. I can divvy up the eight or so Rare Candies I've managed to obtain but for the most part, Lapras is sitting out of this one. I fear this may really be the end.
I haven't named Lapras yet. I taught her Surf, Strength, and Psychic (kind of a bad idea but lets her fight against Lorelei to an extent and is emergency check vs Agatha).
THE TEAM SO FAR
Takeshi L47
Samantha L47
Twilight L47
Renee L48
Clarissa L47
[as of yet unnamed] L15
DEATHS
Joe L16 Punked by a critical hit Karate Chop from some dude's Machop
Betsy L23 Critical hit Thunderbolt from Lt. Surge's beastly Raichu
Chuck L24 Obliterated by Mega Punch from Lt. Surge's Raichu
Clyde L19 Torn asunder by a wild Gastly's Night Shade
Fudge L38 Died to a cheap crit from Koga's Venomoth, RIP
Crystal L28 Critical hit Aurora Beam from a Shellder (didn't matter)
Xander L45 Critical hit Thunder from Giovanni's punk Nidoking
ch14 idgaf
I stopped caring. I went head first into the Elite Four and Lorelei's Slowbro wrecked my whole team. Stupid Amnesia.

As I am reading this section I have a tab open to youtube so I can listen to music, I was listening to "Angel Attack" (which was just about to end, it sounds epic at the end of the song) from the OST of Neon Genesis Evengelion, EPIC MOMENT TO END ALL EPIC MOMENTS! (sucks that Xander died though)
