Hi,

As a collector who rarely ventures out of the "General TCG Discussion" forum, I don't have too much of a good insight as to what cards are hot in the current metagame (I don't even know if metagame is the proper term for currently playable cards). However, I do have a lot of in-format cards, and I would like to sell the ones that are "hot" currently. Problem is, aside from Pokemon Catcher, I have no idea what cards are "hot".

So, I was wondering if anyone could provide me with a list of the hottest (a.k.a. most expensive ;P) cards right now. I know EXs and Full Arts are expensive and what not, so I am mainly looking to find out what rares/uc/c are hot/pricey.

Thanks to anyone who helps!

Heres my personal list.

Lugia EX
Deoxys EX
Thunderus EX
Plasma Kyurem
Darkrai EX (Still being played)

Mewtwo has seen its days, and staple trainers are somewhat cheap (Excluding catcher)

Thanks! Do you have any idea of the more valuable rares and trainers?

Lets see. The valuable rares aren't valuable (Weavile decks are good, but weavile is dirt cheap, 1$)

The holos are where it's at. Now, let's look at the prices for the good holos in no particular order, shall we?

Klingklang (BW base) worth around 2.50

Plasmaklang (Plasma storm) is around 2.50 also

Blastoise (Boundaries crossed) is 10$ for Keldeo decks (Which I forgot mentioning, I will edit other post later with info)

Siglyph (Dragons Exalted) is 3.33$

Zekrom (Bw base/Next destinies) is 1$. Primarily used in Zekrom/Eelektrik decks

Terrakion (Noble victories) is 5$, used as Darkrai counter. (Darkrai weak to fighting)

Gothitelle (Emerging powers, holo) is seeing some big play, with half the finalists in nationals using this card in their decks, this may skyrocket in price if it wins! Its currently worth 2$, you may be able to squeeze out 4$ if you find the right one.

Victini (Noble victories ability) is used in decks relying on coin flipping, as Victini lets you have one more chance! Worth 4-5$

Victini (Noble victories, holo, non ability) worth 2$. Used as a tech for decks.

Cobalion (NV) 4$
-----------------

Thats it for the holos (What I can think of at least), now for trainers.

Pokemon catcher usage in decks is obvious. 15$

Energy retrieval (BW base) is used in Keldeo/Blastoise decks to revive energies. Worth 1-3 dollars.

Professor Juniper (BW base, Dark explorers) is used to discard lightning energy in the Eelektrik decks and get 7 cards. Worth 1.50 - 2.50 depending on variant.

Bianca (emerging powers) know what? Tired of typing their usage in decks. I'll cut to the chase from now on. Worth 2.34

Cheren (Emerging powers,Dark explorers) worth 1$

Max potion (Emerging powers/Plasma freeze shiny) worth 3-5

Crushing hammer (EP) .50

Eviolite (Noble victory/Plasma storm) 1.25

N (Noble victory/Dark explorer) 3$

Heavy ball (NXD) .50

Level ball NXD 2$

Double colorless energy NXD 2$

Dark claw DE .50

Dark patch DE 1$-2$

Enhanced hammer DE .50

Random receiver DE .70

Rare candy 5$

Skyla BC 2$

[ACE SPEC] Computer search BC 10$
Ultra ball (dark explorers) - 7$
------------------
Plasma storm
--------------------
Colress - 1$
Colress machine - .67
Hypnotoxic laser - 2.50$
Virbank city gym - 1.50
Plasma energy (This will include plasma freeze too) - 1$
[ACE SPEC] Scramble switch - 5$
[ACE SPEC]Dowsing machine - 3$
------------------------------------------------------
Plasma freeze
------------------------------
Float stone - 1$
Frozen city - .50
Ghetsis - 3$
Superior energy retrieval - 1$
Plasma badge .25
Team Plasma ball - .65
----------------------------------

I did all the research, typing, everything to find these card for you. Thats the longest pokebeach thing I ever writter.

Seriously, thank you so much. That's like exactly what I was looking for!

1 question: Are Rare Candies from older sets still playable? I know the whole ordeal with the old Computer Search, so I was wondering if it applies to Rare Candies as well.

Most likely Staple Trainers, Darkrai, Deoxys, Plasma Kyurem, Thundurus, Mew. Not a huge TCG expert but this should be around correct.

Tropical beach, depending on which version you have ranges from $130-$500+.

Yes! It does apply to the older rare candies as it was just reprinted.

Your answer is pretty confusing to me, I'm not sure if you're saying yes he can play them or yes its the same as computer search, so to clarify, YES you can play older rare candies. The only reason the old computer search isn't allowed is because it's not an ace spec. Pokemon considers that a major text change. (and a change in the type of card, so I guess I kind of agree with them) all Rare candies are legal. If they came out with an ace spec rare candy, then you couldnt use your old ones as an ace spec.
