    1 Teammates
    2 VS Seeker

    4 Ultra Ball
    3 Muscle Band
    2 Dive Ball
    1 Float Stone

    2 Battle Compressor
Energy:

  • Energy - 13
    9 Water Energy
    4 Double Colorless Energy

Strategy:

Looking through the Primal Clash cards, I found Huntail very interesting. The main strategy is to get Blastoise out through Archie and load on energy for Huntail's Powerful Storm. Gorbyss is there just in case there's a pesky Garbodor. I don't have access to N or Skyla (got one copy of each), so don't recommend to much of them. I'm worried that Blastoise won't be able to come out, but this deck does good without it. Any advice would be very helpful.

really no squirtle and rare candies? do you know how hard it is to be only with Achie in your hands? I tried this deck once, it's very powerful but you need to have ate least a line of 3-1-3 blastoise and 3 rare candies minimun

Pokemon: 18

  • 1x Suicune
    4-3x Huntail
    1x Gorebbys(a growth)
    3-1-3x Blastoise
    2x Mewtwo EX
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: 30

  • 2x Silver Bangle
    2x Muscle Band
    4x Dive Ball
    1x Superior Energy Retrieval
    3x Professor's Letter
    2x VS Seeker
    1x Startling Megaphone
    2x Rare Candy

    3x Training Center

    3x Professor Juniper
    3x N
    1x Lysandre

    1x Teammates
Energy: 12

  • 2 DCE
    10 Water Energy

this is my decklist if you want to take a look xD

4 dive balls are a must :)

You would think so, but since blastoise depends on archie you really want the 3-4 ultra balls so you can discard. At least a couple dive balls might still be good, though. But to make a consistent archie deck, I think you'd also want Computer Search for your ace spec, 2 battle compressor, throw in a Jirachi and 1-2 more VS seeker. Juniper/Sycamore are not your friend, either, since playing archie requires so much discarding already. I've been running only two in archie decks.

All that said, I don't think blastoise/huntail is a great combination. Blastoise does best when you're discarding and recovering lots of energy. I'm starting to think of huntail as a budget gardevoir-EX, and it might fit in a fairy deck reasonably well.

I'll take out the 2 repeat balls for dive balls I think it would be a good choice, thanks.

The main reason I'm doing to squirtles or rare candy is because of the presence of Seismitoad. It's really slowing down stage 2 decks so I'm trying to play it safe. I'll add in a team mates though. It's a good tech card.
- 1 Juniper
+1 Teammates

I'm trying to make this a budget deck, so I can't add in Comp Search. Shoul di take out a Juniper for VS Seeker?

Should I completely ditch blastoise and go for another partner with Huntail.
I could go for a different route with squirtles/rare candies and swap archie for teammates.

I'd ditch blastoise. I think the best options for Huntail are either alpha-growth pokemon on your bench or xerneas - with or without aromatisse/fairy garden. For alpha-growth, your best bet is probably Primal Kyogre, but that's decidedly non-budget. With xerneas and fairy energy, you don't necessarily need to be moving it around so you could skip over aromatisse/fairy garden. But it would probably be a more versatile deck if you included those.

I guess a third option would be the new Excadrill, though it seems a little clunkier to me than xerneas. But hey, you could theoretically pull 4x DCE in one turn with Excadrill - that's a big powerup for Huntail's attack.

The problem with xerneas is that huntail needs water energy to attack. I was thinking about excadrill, but it seemed to clunky. Another reason is that it takes the attack for the turn. Blastoise can load on energy while on the bench, not making it a target. Also? would a Jirachi EX work good with the archie scenario?

Well, you need ONE water energy to attack with Huntail. Maybe include 3 in the deck and with a couple Professor's Letter that shouldn't be too hard to get.

Jirachi is pretty much required to make Archie consistent. If you're set on Blastoise, here's what I would do:

Pokemon: 15
4 - Clamperl
4 - Huntail
2 - Blastoise
2 - Keldeo EX
2 - Seismitoad EX
1 - Jirachi EX

Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums:

3 - Ultra ball (maybe 1 more)
4 - VS Seeker
2 - Dive ball (maybe 1 less)
2 - Muscle band
2 - Float stone
2 - Battle compressor
2 - Professor's Letter
2 - Superior Energy Retrieval
1 - Startling megaphone
1 - Scramble Switch (since that's your preference, but computer search would be so much better for Archie)

2 - Archie's Ace in the hole
2 - Juniper/Sycamore
3 - N
2 - Lysandre
3 - Skyla
1 - Teammates

Energy:

11 - Water

If you're going to rely on Archie, then Jirachi, battle compressor, lots of ultra ball, lots of VS Seeker, and lots of Skyla are required. Computer Search makes a huge difference, but I understand your reservation on that.

Thanks for the advice.
- 1 Blastoise
+ 1 Jirachi
- 1 Life Dew
+ 1 Scramble Switch

Do you think this is a good trade off?
+ 2 Battle Compressor
- 2 Rough Seas

Yes. Try it out, at least. Battle compressor's tough because it's REALLY helpful to get one early, but you really only need it once. That one could come down to preference.

Maybe I'm missing this, but why even have a single Blastoise at all? How do you use it if you don't even have a Squirtle to evolve it from? It just doesn't make sense to me.

Oh, I wasn't aware that could be used to put a stage 2 from the discard pile onto the bench. Huhh...

I believe Pooka (The Top Cut) did a keldo deck with no squritles and just used archie it kinda showed how difficult it was....
