What was the most exciting E3 Nintendo Wii game announcement and why?
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Metroid: Other M
Zelda confirmation/art
I would have to say Metroid: Other M would be the game I am most excited about. The addition of Team Ninja to the Metroid universe could take the series in very new and fresh directions. The more "hardcore" feel of the game brings something long overdue to a Nintendo franchise. Also, the added back-story of Samus and how she came to become who she is has lots of potential to be a great story.
NSMBWii looks really fun if you can play with the full four people, but it looks kinda dull playing it by yourself. As for me, it seems like a big hassle to invite a bunch of people over and have a big party every time I wanted to have fun with the game.
SMG2 is too much the same as the original SMG for my tastes. I can't really see how things will be different than the old SMG. A few different powerups? Yoshi? New levels? In my opinion, I don't see enough of a difference to justify dropping the cold hard cash for something that is almost exactly the same as what I already have.
As far as the new Zelda game goes, hardly anything was released. A concept art picture? Big deal. We already knew Nintendo had to be making another Zelda game. The only thing that picture does is start the conversation as to what the next game will be like. Too much uncertainty right now to really get me excited. Although the thought of Wii Motion Plus swordplay and archery in a Zelda game does sound really fun.
