^That wasn't fair...you had no idea of the fossil ruling and you were playing really slow. I had to go for dinner. jeez
 
Playing slow is not against the rules, and I was correct on the fossil ruling. A fossil does not count as a basic pokemon while in your hand, therefore cannot be played face down Pre-game.

That ruling IS wrong. You can play down a fossil pre-game.

To actually clarify what Zyflair said about the fossil ruling. If there is no other basic Pokemon in your hand, you HAVE to play down the fossil as your starting Pokemon.

Really? Because at states I had that senerio, and the organizer told me otherwise. Thanks for clarifying though.
