The Pokebeach Forums Fan Creations Hall of Fame

Thanks for adding me to this list, bacon. I'm really honored by your kind words.

One little note- I do the pages traditionally with Micron pens lol so I'm more a multi-media artist than just digital :p

I shall be updating more after the busy months!

Well, I just don't think banner threads are up to scratch really. Art is a subjective thing and all, but I think that handrawn art requires a lot more skill/dedication/time than banners.

Anyone can become good at handrawn art. It just requires lots and lots of practice. This thread is a recognition to the people who have spent countless hours refining their techniques so that they are able to produce the outstanding art I see in the forums today.

To be fair, I really think we should have some sort of voting system for this.

It should help stop arguments about what should/shouldn't be in the thread, and I think it's be a little fairer than one person choosing.

..That said, everything that is in here deserves to be here, and you're doing a great job running it. =]

I think thats (For lack of a better term) stupid. Graphic Design takes as much practice as Hand drawn art does. Saying that one requires more practice than the other is ridiculous and extremely ignorant. You said that hand drawn artist spend hours refining their techniques, what exactly do you think Graphic Designers do? Do we sit around and let the signature/LP/avatar/wallpapper make itself, or do we magically become as talented as some of them are (Like DF, Pandamore, Soul Seeker, KingdraKing to name a few) over night? I know Designers who spent 3 months creating advertisements for buisinesses, and I know online graphic designers who've spent weeks creating a piece, tweeking every detail. Maybe you weren't trying to insult the effort/work we put it to our designs/pieces/signatures but I personally felt as if you did.

I didn't want to have arguments starting in this thread, so this is the last post I will be making on the matter. I will not be changing my mind, and while some of you may deem it "unfair", well... I'm afraid you'll have to live with it, because this argument is never going to end I think.

First of all lilsparks, no, I am not making a comparison to Graphic Design as a whole. I am making a comparison to banners. There is a very big difference. Nor did I once hint that you can become "magically" talented overnight, and of course I recognize that banners require some degree of skill, so please do not exaggerate my post.

You may know designers that spend 3 months perfecting a piece, but this is irrelevant: has anyone here on Pokebeach ever spent 3 months on a banner? Again, my post is referring to banners seen on Pokebeach, not Graphic Designers in general.

Simply put, it takes a lifetime to become a good hand drawn artist, but it's not nearly as difficult/time consuming to become good at banners. This is a cold hard truth. And it is for this reason that I have chosen to recognize hand drawn here, and not banners.

Just gonna jump in here,

can't this all be settled by splitting this into 2 categories?

like 1 is
- Art Galleries

and the other is
- Digital Art Galleries

--------

that way both type of galleries can be acknowledged. :)

well just a thought that could settle things up.

*Poofs away*

EDIT: or whatever the 2 categories should be called, I just thought of those off the top of my head
