Lv.X's were a game changing idea that created most of the meta-game decks used today.(Luxchomp, DialgaChomp, Blazeray, etc.) But are Lv.X neccessary for a deck?

I run a Flyphan deck without the Lv.X. I want the Lv.X, but have not been able to aquire it. I posted my Flyphan deck, for critiques, and a member mentioned that Flyphan is useless without Flygon Lv.X. Since then , I have won most battles with my Flyphan deck, and it still didn't have the Lv.X.

So now I ask you, the members, are Lv.X neccessary for a deck to run? Can you run Flyphan and other meta-game decks without a Lv.X? Post your thoughts.

Flyphan can still win a decent amount of games without it. I think it's certainly better with it, but you aren't going to do absolutely horrible without it. It's a mediocre deck to begin with, so don't think adding the X will make it a lot better.

FlyPhan can do OK without the Level X but it would be much better with it. As for a deck like Luxchomp, without the level X's it would be the most useless trash ever. It really depends on the deck.

Well my opinion on this is simply=
Flygon level x only slightly helps against most metagame decks-
Vs. Gengar, only good if Gengar is benched and most of the time their X has e-belt so not helpful
Vs. Luxchomp, well again not helpful, donphan should win matchup for you
etc., etc.
While the decking effect is great you can definitely survive w/out the x, just my opinion though.

There are some decks that don't need Lv. Xs. Jumpluff can still do OK without Shaymin or Luxray. I think that CurseGar doesn't need the Lv. X.

I think it's totally situational, depending on the deck, Jumpluff and Kingdra don't need X's (lol kingdra) but alot of decks, like FlyPhan and Luxchomp rely on them to help bring the rain.

Flygon isn't 'worthless' without the Lv. X, but the Body is neat, the attack can be sick, and the extra HP is always nice.

Also, as an aside: I see a lot of people here posting about how they've won so many battles, etc. without mentioning who and what they're playing against. Beating some scrub at league with a theme deck 10x is a lot less impressive than beating a consistently good player with a good deck, y'know? It's pretty useless to say that you've won X amount of battles without any context.
