The Thread for TV Show Discussion

I understand that The Big Bang Theory has a large fan base, and I respect that thoroughly. I can stand to watch the show, and there are some very funny tidbits. But I don't watch it because every sentence can be approximately translated to this:
"QUIRKY NERDISM. I HAS IT."
Does anyone see where I'm coming from?

6Yes I get it. There's a difference between some nerd jokes and waving it in your face and shoving it down your throat.
It feels to me that they try too hard and are over-doing it. Maybe the grand total of two episodes I saw just happened to be the two worst?

The Big Bang Theory was never a funny show to me. It was just something I never bothered to like, or maybe it was the fact the characters were kinda bad.

The Big Bang theory was just bland to observe. How my Father could watch it nearly every day is beyond me.Half of the time you have no idea what they are pronouncing, that is why it was never been an interesting show to me.Horrid/Pathetic Jokes that do absolutely nothing but the hopes to move the plot along.Ugh.

I found that Tosh.0 is really funny (but pretty inapproiate [spelling?]). I get all the episodes that aired on TV on my iPod and it is pretty funny. Can't wait for the new season in January.

I tried watching South Park and then I liked it's humor, but then I stopped watching since I used much more curse words when I watched.

^I used to watch South Park a little, but found I didn't like some parts in one episode (I'm pretty sure they made fun of my religion; usually this wouldn't offend me, but for some reason it did this time) and stopped watching.

^It's called satire. Everything has flaws. What South Park does is point it out, and then exagerate it.

I still probably won't watch it. I have the the tendancy to say swear words that the the show I'm watching says. For example, I've been using some pretty bad words lately that Tosh.0 said. I guess I'll just stick to Family Guy, ESPN, and Tosh.0. BTW, anyone here seen the the Petoria Family Guy episode?

~JE~

^I have, why? It's strange to me that you're still so impressionable but it's probably because I've been swearing like a sailor years before I started watching those shows

OMG, Lost is number 47! <3 /bestshow :D

Also, laughing out loud at Pokemon being on the list at number 90.

I'm just gonna say it.

I'm a fan of Glee.

Now, I know that some people think that Glee is dumb because it ruins good music, but I think it's good. It opens up older songs and new varieties of music to the modern aged viewer. I mean, before that show came on, I barely knew what A Chorus Line was. Now, I know it's a musical. Also, I had never heard of these songs before, songs that I really like.

And the story, although not great, really steps up to par with other shows on television right now, and I think it's brave for delving into topics such as teenage pregnancy, trying to find your sexuality, and growing up being ignored and rejected. It's sad, but that is how life is, and they portray it well, even though the characters are all in their mid to late twenties.

Pokemon @ nr90 sweeet! Lost should be at least top10. Even though the last season was a bit a disappointment (at leas sometimes), there has been so much good LOST-stuff that a top10 rating should be normal

Disappointment? I hardly found Season Six to disappoint me. It answered the unanswered questions and wrapped up the show, and that's all that really matters. Sure, it seemed short with only sixteen episodes compared to Season One's twenty four episodes, but that was okay to the fans. The seasons got shorter as time went on, anyways.

Disappointment is the wrong word. ;)

@Emeralds Hold No Hope:
Yes, I watch. Good stuff right there.

@Boddy903 -- we actually have a thread dedicated to Glee here!

Lost is probably my all-time favorite show. I first watched it (begrudgingly, I admit) during the early-middle of season 3. After that, I became hooked and immediately bought the first two DVD sets. It's truly a brilliant show -- the character depth is phenomenal. I'd advise anyone here who hasn't seen it to give it a shot no matter how much you think you won't like it. I've converted plenty of fans.

Unfortunately I've not had much time to watch anything on TV as of late, though I did buy a subscription to Hulu Plus so I've been catching episodes of shows I've missed as well as watching shows for the first time. I'd recommend Hulu Plus to everyone -- a great alternative to watching shows on TV.

LOL at #76.
Yet again, I'm not surprised by these results. I actually watch a lot of the lower-ranked shows such as Scrubs. (Big-time Scrubs Fan.) It's also kinda sad that South Park beat Law and Order. Sad, but funny.

I just sometimes had the feeling they rushed trough the last season a bit too much. I often felt like, 'oh, so thats the answer, now forget about it and go to the next event'. and that sometimes 10 times an episode. :p It is still brilliant, one of the best shows ever, but one in a while, the 6th season let me down..
