The Winged Moth of Ra

Leaf Blade
Close Combat / Sacred Sword

This set works. Trust me.

I've decided to, in the end, go with Shiftry. The reason for this is because I'm building this team for a friend and I want to use my own Virizion for something else later down the line. (If this was my own team, I'd be thinking more seriously about it, and I'd probably choose Virizion.)
But thanks all of you for the positively wonderful ideas! I'm sure my friend will be pleased.

Why don't you just use Lilligant, who actually out speeds almost anything under the Sun with Chlorophyll and has usable Special Attack?

Because Venasaur is a better sun attacker, Jumpluff has ragepowder, and they're both redundant with a focus sash shiftry fake outing and killing stuff. Fake out really is the main draw with shiftry though, and both venasaur and jumpluff might be worth considering.

DNA said he will have some trouble getting Venasaur, and Shiftry has nothing going for it other than Fake Out and a somewhat strong Leaf Storm. There are much better users of Rage Powder out there, and what DNA really needs for the team is a sun abuser. That's where it comes down to Venasaur and Lilligant, really.

Edit: You could give Hitmontop a Sitrus Berry because nobody on your team has it at the moment.

Shiftry has Chlorophyll; therefore it is a sun abuser. It's also physical, unlike most of this team.

Hitmontop has the Fighting Gem so it can destroy things with Close Comb-wait, I didn't put Close Combat on. Huh. Okay, Fighting Gem if Close Combat, Sitrus otherwise.

Now I'm heading to class.

Actually, looking at the team and my original suggestions, Togekiss would be a bad idea. I still think you could replace cress with something better though, so how about:

Amoongus @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Effect Spore
EVs: 252HP/4Def/252SDef
IVs: 0Spd
Nature: Sassy
- Rage Powder
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Protect

Volcarona loves Rage Powder, and Amoongus can easily sponge water and fighting type moves while Sporing threats like Terrakion and Kingdra. Giga Drain is it's chosen STAB move for health recovery and it's ability to hit water and rock types well. Minimum speed is used so that Amoongus is the slowest thing in TR, allowing you to spore any TR team to death if they even bother to set it up. I think it would go well with your team, and I would test it over Cresselia.
