I think TCG would be best for our first event because it's easier for newer players. Is that ok with everyone?

That's fine with me ^^

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh!

No Atlanteans for me, then. >:I
Oh well, I honestly don't mind. Bring it ooooooooooooooooooon

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh!

Should I mention that I am a level 1 Konami certified judge?

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh!

I try to stay hip to rulings as well. I'm far from being a YGO judge but I always want to make sure that what I'm doing (or what my opponent is doing) is legal.
By the way, do we need to use the same deck each round or can we switch out?

Edit: And please, if we're doing this tournament, make everything best-of-3...please

Usually at our league, we do Swiss Rounds. We typically do two out three games for each set we do. So I figure, the best out of three would be the best way to go.

As for tournaments, usually once you start a tournament, you must play the rest with the same deck you entered. As far as the way this would be handled, I am not sure.

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh!

You can freely swap cards with your side deck in between duels in a match, as I recall.

Yes, that is correct. Only in between duels you can swap in and out cards of your deck. Though the side deck must be exactly fifteen cards.

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh!

Exactly 15? That's the first time I've heard that rule...I only assumed it was up to 15 because there's really no reason not to run less than 15.

Anyway, have you guys heard of Battle Pack: Epic Dawn? It's a sweet set coming out in a bit less than a week (or a bit more than a week for Americans) that has a Tour Guide reprint.
Starfoils look so pretty!!

That is the extra deck. That deck can have up to fifteen cards in it.

The side deck must either contain fifteen cards in it, or none at all. Its right from the official Konami website.

EDIT: I take back the side deck thing. I just read that it is zero to fifteen for the side deck. I swore it was either zero or fifteen. Appearently someone gave me a wrong ruling on that. My bad ^^; I was thinking of version 6.0 of the Yu-Gi-Oh rules booklet.

Side Deck.....(0 to 15 cards)

"This is a separate Deck of cards you can use to change your Deck
during a Match. After each Duel in a Match, you can swap any card
from your Side Deck with a card from your Deck and/or Extra Deck to
customize your strategy against your opponent. The number of cards in
your Side Decks must not exceed 15. The number of cards in your Side
Deck before and after you swap any cards must be exactly the same"

^Straight from the rule guide booklet. Version 8.0

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh!

I'm good for a TCG tournament, I suppose. I'll leave it up to whoever to make the rules for it.

One deck throughout. Got it.

The deck I usually play with doesn't have a Side Deck yet, so I will need to build one some time in the next couple days before the tourney starts. Side decking shouldn't be too difficult; I have done it before...

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh!

Understood :3 Then this will be fun ^^ I can't wait.

RE: Yu-Gi-Oh!

Unless anyone else has something to add or discuss, I'll post round one pairings in a day or so.

I've looked at all the pages of this thread and I haven't seen what format we are playing. So I am guessing it'd be Swiss rounds.
