The Yu-Gi-Oh Thread

Granted, it's already an actual thing (see Magical Merchant), but it's more of a clarification term. Nevertheless, new term.
"Excavate your deck until you excavate a Spell card."
"Your opponent declares a Level. Excavate your deck until you excavate a monster that can be Normal Summoned."

...it sounds a little off.

Dragon Ravine THANK GOD.
Return from the Different Dimension I didn't play it - it was really just too explosive if you didn't MST it randomly.
Self-Destruct Button Ok.
Sixth Sense Didn't waste twenty bucks. Sweet.

Limited
Adult Dragon Rulers (all 4 of them) SWAG.
Debris Dragon Don't care.
Magician of Faith Interesting. But...what would you bring back? Dark Hole and Book of Moon are one-ofs so...yeah. MST?
Divine Wind of Mist Valley Eh.
Final Countdown One less annoying deck out of the way.
Sacred Sword of Seven Stars Good.
Spellbook of Fate YES.

Semi-Limited
Chaos Sorcerer Cool! I knew he was good, but not OP like BLS. Surprised that BLS is still around haha.
Lonefire Blossom Oh lawd...so many plants...

Unlimited
Archlord Kristya I mean...I don't know what to say. Never saw too much of him.
Mezuki Awww...
Plaguespreader Zombie AWWWW....
T.G. Striker AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
Tour Guide from the Underworld Um, this is actually kinda cool. Run three, play the Night Assailant, two free Rank threes. Wish my Macro Rabbit deck was still around.

Constellar Ptolemy M7 I only saw one so this isn't a big deal.

Fire Formation - Tenki So much Fire Fist and so much Bujin. Ewwwww

I don't mind MoF being at 1, because it just becomes food for my HPB. Sure they can get Spells, but I run Beast.

I'm glad to see Fate at 1. It's honestly one of the best cards out there, because it banishes without targeting.

Tenki at 3 is annoying but doable, though I am more concerned about Mezuki, Plaguespreader, and especially Lonefire. and Debris gets Lonefire, so... this is going to be an interesting meta. Return of Zombie Plants, maybe? and Lightsworns will have huge Synchro potential now, as their main Tuner is Plaguespreader.
I don't know about you guys, but this sounds like a fun format.

oh also RIP IN PEACE DRAGON RULERS YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAH

Woo, zombies. The first presentable deck I built was Zombies. I'll probably go on DevPro to try them out again.

Speaking of DevPro, they already have the January 2014 List, so I built Koa'ki Meirus...oh my gosh, they work marvelously.

Monsters:19
3x Koa'ki Meiru Urnight
3x Koa'ki Meiru Crusader
2x Koa'ki Meiru Guardian
2x Koa'ki Meiru Sandman
2x Koa'ki Meiru Wall
2x Koa'ki Meiru Doom
3x Tour Guide
1x Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear
1x Gorz

Spells: 15
3x Iron Core of Koa'ki Meiru
3x Fire Formation - Tenki
3x Pot of Duality
1x Pot of Duplicity (thinking of replacing this with a Fire Formation - Tensu)
1x Dark Hole
2x MST
2x Dark Calling

Traps: 6
2x Fiendish Chain
1x Solemn Warning
1x Torrential Tribute
1x Compulsory Evacuation Device
1x Bottomless Trap Hole

Extra: 15
1x Evil HERO Dark Gaia
1x Wind-Up Zenmaines
1x Leviair the Sea Dragon
1x Number 17: Leviathan Dragon
1x M-X-Saber Invoker
1x Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction
1x Downerd Magician
1x Number 106: Giant Hand
1x Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Tiger King
1x Abyss Dweller
1x Gagaga Cowboy
1x Number 101: Silent Honors Ark Knight
1x Number 50: Blackship of Corn
1x Lavalval Chain
1x Evilswarm Exciton Knight

The strategy: Everything!
* Tour Guide at 3 lets me get out Doom to fuel the graveyard for Dark Calling very easily. Doom isn't that bad of a card by itself, either!
* Tenki at 3 lets me do a ton...it searches out Urnight and Bear. Urnight is just a consistent stream of Koa'ku Meirus, which basically let me say NO to anything once every turn (with good prediction) or let me Xyz into something.
* A favorite combo of mine is to summon Tour Guide to Special Summon another Tour Guide/Doom, then make Invoker. Detach Doom with Invoker to...well, invoke Urnight. Reveal a Core to Special Summon whatever you need--a Guardian for monster effects, a Crusader to make a Tiger King, whatever. Sometimes, I usually summon a Sandman, then overlay to make Lavalval Chain, then detach Sandman to put something on top of the deck. My graveyard is now filled to use Dark Calling to get out a 3600 ATK Evil HERO Dark Gaia. With Gorz and Acid Golem, Dark Gaia can get up to 5700 ATK.

This is overall a very nice deck that I think can be tinkered with to fit a playstyle--teching in Koa'ki Meiru Ice/Tornado to punish special summons, Drago to prevent special summons, Powerhand to stop various things, Bergzak to go on the offensive...it's very nice overall.

Well, as a Dragon Ruler veteran for the last six months, I've watched them take hits and hits and hits and still function obscenely. Even if I only played them because I was able to and love Dracossack, and I expected this to happen, I assure you that the Dragons will not vanish. The deck, while some may not call it a deck but a pile of dragons and plants now, is very much alive. The Mythic and BEWD engines still give life to it, and having triple Shrine and DDR still allows them to function to a degree. They even have access through Kidmodo, Masked Dragon and Crane Crane to Mythic searching and Melaie of the Trees, thus the plant synchro engine with Lonefire semi'd. I'm currently working on a Malefic Red-Eyes variant myself because Dracosspam is my passion. But Dragon Rulers are far from dead - they are crippled, but they still exist.

This banlist seems to favor Bujins, Fire Fists, Constellars, and soon-to-be Geargias at the top of the tiers, though it's probably too early to say for sure. I bet that Mermails and Prophecies will jump to the top first while the rest of the meta establishes itself (I plan to main Mermails until my Dragons are determined to be adequate), and they will give way to the aforementioned decks later on. This list is what September 2013's list was supposed to be, in a sense. Harpies will be a force too, though they are questionable until further notice. They are particularly expensive too.

The only things I'm sad to see are Dragunities crumbling with the loss of Ravine, 3-Axis Fire Fist not coming back, and Noble Knights not getting RotA semi'd. Three of my favorites too.

I don't play anymore, but the banlist is intriguing so I might as well add my two cents.
For me, Plaguespreader Zombie and T.G. Striker becoming unlimited seems rather weird. True, Synchros aren't ever-dominant and present like they were in the 5Ds days 3 years ago, but they are still stronger than most XYZ, and with those two tuners unlimited, I strongly remember a Dark deck that used to play for a while in the past. It played with Dark Grepher, Armageddon Knight, Foolish Burial, Plague, Malicious-Destiny Draw and DAD for backup. It's expensive to make and I won't get back into playing for it, but I'd sure love to see how it would work. Maybe I'll try DN for fun.

I really don't see how they can do much of anything anymore. I mean, if you can make it work, cool, but it more or less looks like it'd be Dragon Plants with the 4 Dragon Rulers teched in...can it really still be called a Dragon Ruler deck?

Try DevPro. It's automatic.

You basically just described TeleDAD - which is a thing. With E-Tele and Malicious both at 3, the deck has tremendous Synchro power, or - with Risebell - Rank 6 monsters, if you so choose. If you are so inclined, you can also run Mezukis to use each Plaguespreader twice.

Oh yeah. TeleDAD can take on the world and then some.

Like I said, some may call it a pile of dragons and plants now. But that pile can still function. For example, they still have a 2-card first turn Dracossack play with Lonefire and Shrine. If you have a second copy of both the next turn, you're game. They may look dead, but you'll still see them around, and we still have yet to figure out the most hideous combos. Not to mention the Mythics still run around, so on top of Dracossack and random Synchros, you have to worry about Felgrand dropping out of nowhere.

It's up to you if you want to call them a deck still. Just stating my case.

I knew I was missing something... Emergency Teleport! Yes, that was the deck I was looking for. Now with unlimited Plagues, Malicious and Tele, I bet it could really prove to be a nasty surprise. I wonder if it will be remembered, or if it will stay in the archive of (the best) decks.

I guess we're a club now. NO GIRLS ALLOWED just kidding all of you are welcome here :V

In case you all missed it last night, some new cards were revealed, and effects were given to teased cards from Primal Origin. More cards for the Galaxy archetype (including Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon) were revealed along with the first few cards for a whole new archetype, the Artifacts--ancient weapons that set themselves in your backrow and punish the foe for destroying them. You can check them out here.

Additionally, Jump Festa occurs in a few days, so we're due for a new Premium Pack...but Konami put it all into this commemorative promo set, making it contain twice the number of cards that the previous Premium Packs had! Highlights include support for Chronomaly, Gimmick Puppet, and Gagaga as well as 8 new Numbers (5 are Number Cs that the Arclight family used in the anime recently, and the other 3 are from the manga), 3 Duel Dragons, and a new Rank-Up Magic! The images for all 20 cards were leaked, but we only know the effects of some, so keep your eyes peeled!

This is insane. Like, it's really insane. It is impossible to hit over, and extremely easy to summon. It's just going to be splashed into any decks that can make Rank 8s. I don't know if Galaxy decks will become a thing, but even if they don't...oh dear.

Angelly made me cringe. Madolches are getting their own Lonefire. ;-;
Durandal looks so cool. Shame they have to be destroyed during your opponent's turn, or I would Scrap Dragon all of the things.

Galaxy Eyes looks like it can win a duel in one turn on Battle Damage alone. However, I dunno how big it will be. Without its previous form it's really not all that awesome.

In a dedicated Galaxy/Photon deck, it will be extremely difficult to stop, but won't be a massive threat outside of those decks...finally, a legitimate boss monster for the deck instead of just spamming Felgrand because they don't have much better to make.

Well, Premium Pack 16 has just been fully revealed, and it does not disappoint...but one card in particular seems TOO good to me.
http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Silent_Wobbe
Silent Wobbe
Level 4/WATER/Fish/Effect
1000 ATK/2000 DEF
During your Main Phase: You can Special Summon this card from your hand to your opponent's side of the field. When you do: The controller draws 1 card, also the controller's opponent gains 2000 Life Points. You can only use this effect of "Silent Wobbe" once per turn. The controller's hand size limit becomes 3.

Just get this to their field on T1. You essentially start with 10000 life points and your opponent starts with 4 cards in their hand.

EDIT: Well...I was under the impression that the hand size limit applied during both end phases, not just your own. Well...side this against Exodia?

I think it means your opponent would start with 10000 and 4 cards.

And went to Locals today with an anti-meta deck to find that there were only 6 people playing. Went up against 2 Constellars which were my worst matchup and lost 1-2, my only win being against Infernities.

Hand size limit is only applied during the turn player's End Phase. No, your opponent would not start with 4 cards. They would start with 7.

Ding, winner. That's pretty much why Silent Wobbe is controversial. It can give you a gain but it also gives your opponent an initial gain.

@Serperior: How much do you truly like Constellars? It seems like everyone gets frustrated with them after things like that happen. :3
