Speculation Theory: Next Pokemon Video Game being announced during Worlds opening ceremony?

I have a theory, and it might be possible since the last two Worlds opening ceremony each came with a major announcement for the upcoming games, Masuda being invited and announcing Mega Kangaskhan and, respectively, Mega Slowbro. However, this time there will be no upcoming game to make an announcement about, so why not announce a new game (Pokemon Z or whatever)? The ceremony is live on twitch, and we would also be able to hear the crowd's reaction. It would also be the perfect time if they want to release it during the holiday season or early 2016. What do you think?

I do think we'll know about the game by Worlds, but I'm not sure if the game will actually be announced there. I'm thinking more around CoroCoro, which should leak a little over a week from now.

I think CoroCoro will give us further information for any new game, but still they may say something little about it in the Worlds too.

A little late on this, but we started seeing merchandise pop up for new Pokemon.

By itself this doesn't really mean too much, but usually when they start showing off new merchandise, a game announcement isn't too far off. So we'll almost certainly know about the next game by the end of September.

Thanks for posting that, not only because I find it a good clue but also because that sleeping Bulbasaur is adorable! :D

in light of what Coro-Coro leaked this month, and what it promised to reveal next month, I am now thinking a full Worlds Announcement is plausible.
Also, it is worth noting that Masuda tweeted this morning the he is going to be in Boston. Yes, he is conducting the Symphonic Evolutions, but he is also a VIP for Worlds. After recent years of Announcements I can't see him just not showing us something. At the very least I expect a reveal of Whatever that shadow is and the Blob, but in reality a full game reveal would really get the crowd going, and potentially change the atmosphere for the tournament entirely, in a positive way.

Was just reading that apparently when Ishihara came out at the opening ceremony he said "But first, let me show you this" and than showed Pokken. Could this mean there's another announcement to come at the closing ceremony?

No, when he stated that, he meant by "but first" he wanted to show the video revealing what was coming, then have the special guests come on stage. he in no way meant "but first this is the first announcement"

if you re watch the opening ceremony he said
"so first I'd like you to watch a video, then after we'll bring out some special guests to talk to us"

There's still a chance that something could be shown off at the closing ceremony, but I doubt it. Pokken is likely all they had planned.

EDIT: And, nope, no main game announcement at Worlds. There wasn't any main game news at all.
