This is going to be my new series on Pokébeach. I'm going to talk about things that make you think, and you all discuss it. These are going to be things that you stop and say, "hey! He's right!". Come and discuss.

Topic 1 situation:

You have a friend. Let's say he/she is your best friend. You have known he/she for about 5 years. You learn his/her habits, likes, and dislikes. When you're in a conversation with him/her, you usually know somewhat what he/she is going to say. In this relationship , you and your friend likes to quote things from T.V. shows, movies, games, and funny clips. Let's also say your friend is very unpredictable.

Today, you're in a conversation, just fooling around and qouting things, and your friend likes to change it up by replacing a word in the quote with his catch phrase, and often says something completely random instead.

Now, when he/she does this, and it's unpredictable and you come to expect something like that, would you consider it predictable? or will doing something predictable still be unpredictable?

My opinion: If he did something unpredictable, and he always does, than doing something unpredictable would be predictable.

(next one in two weeks, it'll be much better, trust me)

This is the only thing you can say. There's nothing to discuss. :/

Nothing to discuss, and reading it gave me a headache "the predictability of the unpredictionism, predicts that the prediction-unprediction ratio is unpredictable because the predictability of it is unpredictable" now doesn't THAT give you a headache?

If you don't know when they are going to be unpredictable then you don't know them well enough to be able to know what they are going to say. Therefore you already know when they are going to do something unpredictable, making it predictable to yourself, and unpredictable to others, so when you are asking the question, the answer lies in the perspecitive of the person asking. If it is your friend then it isn't unpredictable, whereas if you are just a by-stander then it would appear that it was an unpredictable-predictable moment.

You're right...but do you think this is a good idea for a series? It's my first one, give me a break.

Yes, it really does.

Never thought of this, thanks. ^_^

It would be predictable that he would do something unpredictable. Unpredictable in that case would describe what they'll do/insert into the quote, not the event of the substitution itself, which is in fact, predictable.

I agree, That's what I think.

I actually have a friend like this XD

Me too, It's actually my best friend. ^_^

It's predictable that your friend will be unpredictable.

eg, you know that you WONT know what they are going to say.

As do you.

Like others have said, this is a good idea but the subject of the thread needs to be more open-ended as to promote more discussion value. Popular questions in philosophy include:

-If evil exists in the world, can a perfect God exist?
-Is there such a thing as a soul?
-Can there ever be a true definition of intelligence?
-What is Art?

It's nice to see someone make threads such as this, so best of luck to your project. :]

To be considered predictable, in this situation you would have to be able know exactly what they are going to say. The only thing that was predictable, was that they would say something.

I say that its predictable that he would be unpredictable, however, the unprectability of the unpradictable phrase is what makes him unpredictable, so, he's still unpredictable!
