I think it really depends on whether or not you're willing to pay up lol. And which set you want in particular, like I've heard Dragons Exalted boxes haven't been very good pull-wise. For Undaunted, in the sold listings on eBay it seems to be about $80 - $100 for a sealed box, but there is one that went for $60.

If you want the undaunted set, it's probably cheaper just to buy the cards seperately. Since they've been rotated and are no longer useful for players, prices have gone way down on them. I doubt it would cost you more than $80 for the set.

I'll offer my advice:

I would only *ever* buy a booster box for one of the following two reasons:
1) You'll pull a higher dollar worth in cards than the box costs you.
2) The cards in the box are too hard/expensive to find in pack-fresh MINT condition.

In the past year and a half I've been back to the TCG, I have only bought a few booster boxes. I have bought several of the Black & White series boxes, simply because I could resell the contents for a considerable profit and then keep a few cards for myself. I also purchased a Legendary Collection box for a little over $200. It's my all-time favorite set and I figured with the price of Mint RHs, I would easily make my money back and have a blast opening it as well. Not to mention, cards from that era can be very difficult to find at a reasonable price.

Anyway, as far as HS Undaunted is concerned, you could get a complete set for less and you wouldn't have any extra cards you don't need. You'd also still need to buy singles after opening the booster box. I'd recommend buying a newer set (Boundaries Crossed comes out in less than a month), or buying one that is collectible and hard to find. That doesn't mean to go buy an EX Holon Phantoms box though. I've seen these go for $200+ and assuming you get a Gold Star (which is never guaranteed), you'd be lucky to get half that value in cards.

I buy a booster box of every new set because i think its fun. Value wise not particularly. I killed it on DRE because i pulled shiny rayquaza but that was insane luck. If your looking to complete a set from start a box is a good way to get all your rares C/UC out of the way though

Dragons Exalted was actually rather good, mwhile every now and then the boxes were bad generally they would have 3-4 EXs some having a whopping 6.

the pro's buy a case of each set at a time. just sayin

Lol no. The best players I know buy 1-2 boxes plus the singles they need. Only collectors but the cases.

On topic, I'd just buy the singles, in the end it will be cheaper and you won't get all the doubles :p
