FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police have charged a man, who is already behind bars for sexual battery on an underage child, with conspiracy to commit murder, after, they said, he tried to hire a hit man to kill his victim.

While awaiting trial to face accusations he Stolen a 14-year-old teenage boy, police said Bobby Minnis hatched a plan to kill his victim.

Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Frank Sousa said his department has taped phone conversations involving Minnis discussing his lethal plans. "His intention in this is if the victim isn't alive, there's no one to testify against him, and the charges would be dropped," Sousa said.

Sousa said Minnis spoke with an undercover officer posing as a hit man while sitting in jail. "The nature of the phone calls described the amount of money the person would be paid for killing the victim," said Sousa.

Police said Minnis told the undercover officer he had a plan to kill the Texas boy he met on-line three years ago. "Initially it was a killing, then he wanted to make it look like a suicide, and, furthermore, to leave a note behind to implicate the victim made up this whole story," Sousa said.

The story is this: three years ago, Minnis met the Texas boy on a Pokemon website, driving him several states here, to his Fort Lauderdale home, the same home he shared with his wife and two kids. Police said he Stolen his victim on 10 different occasions. "He abused our son mentally, physically," said the teenager's mother. "He' a monster."

Minnis now faces charges of solicitation to commit murder and conspiracy to commit murder in addition to the sex charges.

And yes, I agree with DFB, he deserves to walk the mile, he deserves the chair...
 
The way I see it, if you violate someone else's human rights like that, then you should have no rights of your own. Death is too good, it's a way out.

Part of me wants to delete this thread, but a larger part wants to keep it open as a reminder that you should not lay too much trust in the online world. While most of you guys are sensible enough to avoid these horrific "people", there will always be the vulnerable, those who seek comfort in an online world rather than the real one, who are more easily tricked and manipulated.
 
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like molestation carries that much of a charge; parole is pretty common, I think, and usually for about a decade or two. All it does, really, is stop them for some time. These sorts of things don't just disappear; they are usually repeaters. Not to mention that parole really only just... I don't really know what the purpose of parole is, it doesn't seem to give me much idea of what it does.

You guys obviously don't know ANYTHING about this guy, or what he did.

His name is BK Minnis. He was a Texas PTO and LL in 2004. He did some. Well yes. Nasty stuff to a kid that went to the league he ran. That was 3/4 years ago. The story now is about him hiring a hitman to kill the kid (Who is now 14-16 years old), so that he could get off with no charges.
 
Well, ok. That guy is bad, and he ought to be pwned. But why are you focusing on just a Pokemon website? How about any other website for that matter? It's still a wrong to get on any website, meet a kid and molest him/her.
 
Yeah, this doesn't happen on Pokemon sites only. Just look at MySpace, etc. Jail for the rest of his life should suffice.

Thats sad.....I hope that guy feels bad for what he did, at the very least.

I remember BK. He was a League Leader at Dragon's Lair Games in Ft. Lauderdale, FL about 5 years ago. Even ran a few City Championships in 2004 (I finished 2nd in one). I took over the League there from BK in early 2004 after he and most of his players broke away for some unknown (and presumably weird) argument he had regarding the way he thought Nintendo was running things. He also liked to play in the tournaments he ran under a fake name (a very big no-no).

At League, he always seemed to be a friendly man (perhaps a little too friendly) who was generous with giving out stuff to his players. When I met him online at a Pokemon forum he created when he and his friends broke away from the Pokegym (notice a pattern here?), he seemed to be eccentric, even mentally out to lunch. But I didn't suspect he was the kind of person who would actually...harm people.

Time passed, I ran my quiet little league as usual, and I heard no more from BK. I eventually got to hear from players who used to be at his league, and they simply told me BK got banned from Pokemon for molesting a kid. That's all I heard about it until now.

True, molestation may not carry that much of a punishment, but Stolen and especially conspiracy to commit murder do. From what I understand from watching forensic science shows, child molesters are pretty low on the prison hierarchy, so I don't think he's gonna get much respect in jail.

I'm sorry I had to make such a long confession. It's just that this guy just strikes a few raw nerves in me.
 
Wow oh my goodness. I hate the story but I hate it more that it is actually related to Pokemon in some way.
Well I just hope that the victim will be alright and they would execute the pedophile.
 
Unfortunately if this happened in th uk, he would only get something like 30 years (In my english class we were doing an argument about if the death penalty should be brought back and the group who wanted it back (i was in that group :) ) won, too bad that wasn't real) anyway there is so much i would like to say about that scum, but i can't say it on this sort of forum.
