So during BRs last weekend, I watched an interesting match that ended up going into OT because of the fact that one decks purpose was to force the match to end in OT. Using PDL's Time Control attack, he forced his opponent to end the game with a whopping 16 prizes, after the opponent had already drawn down to 2 remaining, meaning he managed to increase her prizes by 20. Seeing this made me wonder what sort of deck I could come up with, given no deck list (though I know this is different because his deck wasn't MEANT to be a stall, but ended up as one during the match). So here goes the attempt, granted this uses cards not released yet, but if Proxy tests go well, I may very well build this later when NV is released next month.
Pokemon 18
PDL x2 (Full)
Skarmory x3
Shaymin x2
Reuniclus x2-1-2
Kyurem x2
TSS 28
Collector x3
Twins x2
PONT x3
Seeker x2
Cheren x1
Fisherman x2
Rare Candy x2
Catcher x3
Energy Retrieval x2
Communication x3
Junk Arm x2
Switch x2
Legend Box x1
Energy 14
Special {M} x4
{M} x4
{W} x6
The goal is to start off with Skarmory and start Steel Coating a benched pokemon to set up for PDL's entrance, while working to get PDL out ASAP (through communications/legend box/junk arm). Once skarmory eventually goes down (which it likely will very quickly), twins out whatever you need still (missing PDL piece, or setup for Reuniclus/Shaymin) and Shaymin the metals over to PDL to start time controlling. Hopefully, if all goes well or you've gotten good enough draws, you will also have a Reuniclus on the field around the same time as PDL to keep damage off him and onto a waiting Kyurem or other 'damage batterys' to keep that sucker alive as long as you need to (which should be all game). If you get a pairing that hinders you from the bench or is supplying the opponent (hello, Vileplume, Emboar, Reuniclus, Typhlosion, Feraligatr, Blastoise, ect), you just Sudden Delete them away which frees you up for a few turns. Combined with Catcher, this could also be deadly if their only attacker is on the forefront, by Catchering up a useless pokemon or one with heavy retreat and then deleting their previous active. With Energy retrievals/junk arms and fishermans, recycling the energy for Time Control should keep a pattern of time control/sudden delete/time control.
All going well, or played cautiously enough, the goal would be to stack on so many prizes while deleting their benched supporter pokemon until the round is forced into overtime and your opponent is left with too many prizes to catch up.
Obviously the horrendous downside to this deck is the fact that, aside from being based around a legend, PDL has two weaknesses ({R}{L}x2) that both are seen in the current meta with the still abundant Reshiplosion/ReshiBoar/FlareBlitzBoar and MagneBoar/MagneMega/ZPST, however as stated above, with PDL's Sudden Delete sending their support (Magnezone, Emboar, Typlosion) to their hands would slow them down. The downside is still steep however as PDL can STILL be OHKO by both Reshiram and Zekrom in those matchups.
Just a note as to why I set this up to wait for NV. While there are other pokemon that could serve as batteries until them (Mostly Reshi and Zek with their 130 HP basics), the fact that Kyurems a water type makes him more synergy with this deck as theres already going to be water energy. Simple reason, I know, but it's those sort of small efficiencys that can make or break a deck.
So that long winded explanation of my plans aside, any comments, questions, suggestions for this deck?
