Too many contests

I think having deck list competitions can be a good thing in multiple ways. The contests can help people become better deck builders with their own cards for starters. Some people can get bored of seeing here's my deck, now fix it threads. New combos can emerge from these contests, such as Blastoise being used to power up Charizard SF. By holding competitions, it may help people decide what to play at premier events. I think it would also be a good idea to open up some theme only competitions where there is no specific card given, but rather a theme. There could also be a possibility to take a common deck type, such as G-Toolbox, and see who builds it the best. I think that each person should only be allowed to host one contest at a time. Then that person should have to wait a week before starting another.

Upload videos to Youtube about who sleeves their REAL decks very nicely or swiftly.
That sounds like it would be more interesting than a deck list contest.

Look young lady. Who are you to say that it should be *your* contest that stays along with Pokechamps. Who are you to say whose is most popular when it just seems to be the same few people signing up for every contest. As I recall you had more slots than everyone else and at the very least of having Pokechamps run-off. I mean, there's no reason to think yours would otherwise be superior to anyone elses. I mean, the fact you don't know what spell check is should be reason enough to say you got nothing better than lucky.

Point is, this is just a compilation of decks people have already posted to be judged on their individual merits and get improvement. All this does is compare them to one another by the first few underqualified people who judge them.

They're pointless, I'm just (once again) thrilled they're gone from the General forum.

I think we should have 3 comps. at the max. Me, PokeChamps, and 1 of Juliacoolo's. Juliacoolo has about 4 right now, PokeChamp is starting a new one, and mine is just starting to finish.

Juliacoolo, seriously, you have WAY too many comps.
 
I think one normal deck competition and one interest or varied deck competition at a time is enough. otherwise, they just steal members from other people (or have people working on three different decks for 3 separate contests (by the same person -cough-?)), and it makes it less fun because everything takes three times as long.

I have to agree with this even though I am in one of the contests. For the future, members should be able to host only one contest at a time, then wait at least a week before starting another.
 
Also, I just want to state that I don't think that the current oodles of contests should just be SHUT DOWN. I think that the ones that have made it past the sign-up stage should be allowed to finish up, and then tell them not to make any more for a while, while things get cleaned up.

I think a thread that basically says which contests are currently active would be a good idea.

One last thing. I think starting a new comp when two other ones have already started is ok IF THOSE OTHERS ARE ABOUT DONE. then it allows other people to start contests, and people don't have to wait as long.
 
only 4 a year is too few. What if one contest goes really fast and only lasts a month? 2 months with no contest? I think that 2 contests at a time is enough, and allows for a constant flow of participants, without crowding up the forums.
 
Contest is always healthy. And I go against limiting the number of competition. Instead, I suggest limitting to hosting only 1 contest per user. And once it is started it must be finished.

See, it wouldn't matter what cards you were sleeving. Just as long as you sleeved 60 cards. DONT YOU LOVE MY HIP NEW IDEAS???

On a side note, if we're going to discuss what we should do about the contests, the people who are running the contests shouldn't have any say because they're just going to want their contests to be #1.
 
I do. And there can also be "Pokebeach Idol" and "Pokebeach's next top model" for the girls ><

Nah I'm joking it will just give me nightmares with all the singing.

That's because you think you and your 30 contests are going to be one of the two, which, we all know, you wouldn't be.
 
If anyone keeps their contests, it's me! I am the one who came up with the idea to introduce this idea to the beach, and I am the one who will keep making contests!

It definitely should have its own forum though because I don't want to have to see them when I go into a forum for reasons unrelated to deck list contests.

^ Agreed I think there definitley have a forum for Tournaments for brawl and Conests and they should call it something like Hearthome's Hall or something!
