Pokemon
4-3 Magmortar
4-2-3 Emboar
2 Shuckle
3 Reshiram
2 Shaymin

TSS
3 Collector
3 Commy
3 Fisherman
3 Seeker
2 Energy Retrieval
3 Rare Candy
2 PONT

Total 19

18 Fire

So the point of the deck is to set up with an Emboar, a Shuckle, and a Magmortar T2. I really only need to have a Magmar out, because i can draw into a Magmortar. What i do is set up Emboar and then attach all th energy in my deck to Shuckle, draw, and then Seeker Shuckle, and do it again. Then I use Shaymin to move all the energy to Magmortar and mill anywhere from 10 - 15 cards.
I've been testing out the deck, and the only problem i've been having is setting up the T2 Emboar, even with the Shuckle engine. So any and All help is appreshiated

RE: Top Burner Mill

Twins are your freinds. I have been playing this deck for a very long time. And Twins is the answer to all your problems. Also you might to think about adding in Switches for you Magmortars and Emboar. Because Emboar is going to get stuck out in the active spot alot. So with above in mind

-4 Fire Energy
-3 Reshi

+4 Twins
+2 Switches
+1 Pont

RE: Top Burner Mill

Reshiram is a sponge for the deck, and a back up attacker as well. I used to run the deck without him, and it didnt work so well. I might take one out, but thats it.

As for Twins, i dont know if you read the description, but I can practically draw into anything in my deck, the only time i would need to look for two specific cards is T2, and I doubt inwould be behing that quickly.
Also, taking energy out of my deck can only hurt it. I use energy as not only my main attack, but also to draw my deck. I dont see any reason to take it out

RE: Top Burner Mill

Unown Return is much beter than Shaymin, IMO. It has some synergy with Shuckle/Seeker and provides a lot more options than Shaymin.

RE: Top Burner Mill

But it takes up a benched space, so I still need to use Seeker to pick it up

RE: Top Burner Mill

I was interested in building this deck as well, but I didn't think it through quite as much. How do you handle the 50/50 chance to toss energies in the discard? While fliptini will help out in the future, it's not here yet. On top of that, seeing how prominent trainer lock is, in the case of that, how do you recover, seeing how Energy Retrievals are locked out and you're stuck using Fisherman for a max of 5 attachments per turn on a Magmortar.

I only ask to help try and figure out a way of accomplishing the same feat rather than to throw wrenches in your deck idea.

RE: Top Burner Mill

Oh, trust me, I built this deck a long time ago and ran into that problem, when I heard about Refliptini I took apart the deck and put it aside to rebuild later. But I saw an interesting take on a Reshiboar deck that abused the shuckle engine to draw everything.
The main strategy of the deck is only to mill the first turn, but to mill as many as possible. I know that I can only get 5 energy on Magmortar per turn, but im not really trying to win with mill as much as I am trying to severly distrupt and just plain kill their deck

RE: Top Burner Mill

So you mill as much as you can on one turn, ideally second to cripple, and then go to the reshiram to kill with the limited recovery that is available at that time? Milling again if their set up is slower?

RE: Top Burner Mill

I like how it works, but perhaps you can tweak the deck a bit for a faster recovery before the trainer lock hits. Since you're drawing into your entire deck, perhaps cards like energy returner, energy retrieval could be considered along side of the fishermans. I've yet to see a fast offensive deck that uses trainer lock (I define fast as t2, 100+ damage) so you will have a good 2 turns to make use of top burner.

I suggested the Energy returner because when you've drawn a majority of your deck, 4 energies get placed back into your deck which you're likely to draw into with tiny sized deck that you would have at that time. In this case only, it kind of acts like a non-supporter fisherman. That way, you can save your supporter for Seeker to scoop the Shaymin and move the energies back to a back up Magmortar.

Right. So does Shaymin. I don't see how Unown isn't better.

RE: Top Burner Mill

Yeah, I had been thinking about that. I ended up adding Returner to my list in the end

RE: Top Burner Mill

The problem is with setting up the Emboar in the first place...

RE: Top Burner Mill

Yeah, but people have been suggesting decks that rely on a T2 Vileplume, so complaining about getting Emboar out is a garbage argument, the only resource Emboar doesn't have access to is Sunflora which only recently got popular.

Yes, but they don't run 18 fire energy so they have much more T/S/S support in getting out their Vileplume.

Well then, instead of just criticizing my idea, why don't you tell me what I need to get a more consistent T2 Emboar?
