okay, so I'm just getting into the game, and This is my first attempt at a deck(I've played with a few decks some I'm not completely new). I'm hoping for a casual while competitive deck. I'd preferably go for competitive over casual though. ALSO: if any of the cards aren't legal, just let me know so I can swap them out. Thanks.

I'd love some critic of the deck, and if there's any changes you think would be good. So thanks in advance.

RE: TortionDrain

Torterra is weak!
It is far too slow.

If you like healing, go with more Serperior.

example:
-4-2-4 Torterra
-1 Rare Candy (I would think that this is a bit much)
-3 Darkness Energy (What the heck, man?)
-2 Seeker (Not good for you, will probably help your opponent more than you...)
-3 Juniper
-2 Energy Search (You don't need this unless you are running different energy)
Remove: -21

+1-1-1 Serperior
+2-1-2 Jumpluff HGSS (For cheap extreme damage)
+3 Professor Oak's New Theory
+1 Pokemon Collector (Max this)
+3 Junk Arm (Awesome card)
+2 Pokegear 3.0 (Gets you the right supporters at the right time. Most of the time.)
+3 Potion (Just because you like healing...)
+1 Professor Elm's Training Method (For consistency)
Add: +21

RE: TortionDrain

i might be mistaken but i could have sworn darkness energy only adds damage for dark pokemon

RE: TortionDrain

if u want to run this deck i would take out the metapod and only use sunfloras realy early game and then seeker them back up because they will become free prizes when catcher comes out (this weekend) and that will give ur opponent a realy quick boost on prizes

RE: TortionDrain (Needs main Pokemon in thread title)

I don't quite have time to make changes right now due to work, but yeah the darkness energy was a reading error by me, that's pretty embarrassing. Set number has been added. Do you think theres any way to speed Torterra up, or just a complete waste of time, Because I like the giga drain idea. Also I'm puzzled on the Junk Arms, they seem pretty situational. I'm probably wrong though :p

why are you using Torterra? It makes no sense at all.

Helpful.

Torterra is more casual than competitve unfortunately seeing as it needs so much energy to heal for such a low amount unless you add in 4 Plus power and 3 Junk Arm to boost that damage, but again it isn't great, seeeing as your most commonly played decks can hit for 60+ easily.

Virizion from EP (as you already know) does the exact same thing as Torterra but for 1 less energy and dealing 10 less damage, upside being that' it's a basic and it easily swarmable unlike Torterra. The only one-up Torterra has over Virizion is the higher HP which (if Metapod is in play) turns Blue Flare from a OHKo into a 2HKO. You should only run Virizion if it's going to be the main center of the deck or else all energy drops would be better off on Torterra. If you want to make Torterra faster, then i suggest

-2-2 Sunflora (additional Pokemon Communcation and Junk Arm would be better)
-1 Rare Candy
-1-0-1 Serperior (a nice ability but juggling 2 stage 2 lines with minamal draw power is quite a challenge)
-1-0-1 Torterra
-2 Virizion
-2 Prof Elms Training
-2 Energy Search
-3 {D} energy
-3 {G} Energy
(-21)

+4 Double Colorless Energy
+2 Pokemon Communcation
+3 Junk Arm
+3 Plus Power
+1 Switch (every deck needs an "out" incase a card is dragged forward)
+1-1 Zoroark BW (your reshiram counter)
+1 Cleffa HGSS (hand resfresher)
+3 Prof Oak's New Theory (same general purpose as Cleffa)
+2 Sages Training (draw supporter)

More a search power and draw power. why 4 Communication? because its vital in the setting up phase to be able to draw into a either the pokemon you need or a way to get them plus setting up a strong field helps maintain a steady long-game.

Though with the arrival of Cacther, bench techs or pokemon on the bench generally will be targets to stall or take prizes. In which case you can add another Switch by just taking away a {G} energy as with Juniper/Sage/Oak you should be able to draw into a {G} energy. additionally you can (suggestion. i'm not too big on the idea but it seems viable) drop the serperior completely and either add +2 Potion for some quick healing (is actually playable now) or Black Belt as this is a deck that may fall behind so this helps you deal more damage with Giga Drain. Or you can add an extra 1-1 Zoroark line to strenghen your Reshiram match-up.

@hojinisabeast22 I was using Torterra because of his high HP and I liked the gigadrain concept.

Thank you X_empoleon_X on your detailed post/advice. I'm going to try keeping Torterra with your suggestions, and depending on what happens I might switch to Virizion. I added in the extra switch, and took Energy Search out for Black Belts. Also I was playing with the idea of Cherrims from HGSS instead of Serperior for the healing, but you mentioned the bench is vulnerable because of catcher, and I don't know if it'd be worth doing.

If only expert belt was still in the format.

i'am pleased that you are trying a deck with torterra but te only way to get torterra back if you use something like spiritomb i mean a good starter if you post a new decklist with a good starter than i can help you further with your deck.

You should put in another metapod line (make it 2-2) and take out the serperior line for reuniclus. If you would like to do that the deck should be like this

3-2-3 Torterra
2-2 Metapod
3-1-2 Reuniclus (or 3-2-2)
(serperior and vileplume are optional, but that would slow down the deck)
1 Pichu
2 Cleffa
2 Kyurem
22 or 23 pokemon depends on the Reuniclus line

3 Collector
3 Junk Arm (if blissey prime, play 2 junkarms 1 seeker)
2 Max Potion (can put in a 1-1 Blissey prime instead)
2 Switch
3 Pont
4 Pokemon Communication
3 Candy
1 Catcher
2 Blackbelt
2 Plus Power
1 super rod
28

4 Double Colorless
8 Grass

This definitally isn't a perfect list, but the basic strategy is get out torterra, metapod, and reuniclus, and move damage away from torterra until he only has 40 damage on him. The when you have a bench full of damage blissey it all (blissey removes all damage from all of your pokemon when you play it down on chansey, but you have to discard all the energies attached to the pokemon you heal so when you blissey, dont have damage on torterra!) This is better than serperior because you can heal more and keep torterra alive longer. Kyurem is a counter to Reshirams, which your deck would have a big problem against, even with metapod. put enough damage on kyurem then use outrage to kill reshis. When you attack reshis with outrage think (20+10 for each damage counters on kyurem) times 2 because reshi has weakness to kyurem. Good luck and i hope i helped.

by the way, you keep 40 on torterra cause that is how much he heals from his first attack. when you use black belt on torterra, you can keep 80 on him so you heal the 80, and when you use pluspowers its 40 +10 for each pluspower, so you can figure that out
