Trading Rules of Thumb

Hey guys

I was just wondering if there are any good rules of thumb to keep in mind for trading.

I'm just getting back into the game after a long time out so I am not sure of values etc so I was wondering what pointers you could would be able to give to a newbie :)

The last time I knew this little I ended up trading a Charizard for 3 growliths (admittedly I was 8/9 but still)

My rule of thumb: A "popular" value of a card does =/= the value of the card to you. Trade if you think the trade is fair and you're comfortable with it.

Definitely know your values (or do your research before finalizing a trade).

To add onto what Wilderness said, don't be hasty to trade cards of sentimental value to you.

Yeah, don't bow down to someone trying to pressure you into trading a card you really would rather not trade, speak up about it.

Trade cards with similar rarities

No.

Examples, such as Pokemon Catcher, are worth a lot, while being an Uncommon, and Zekrom-EX FA is an FA EX Ultra Rare, but is worth <$10.

think about the future of the cards you are trading. some crappy cards could be worth more if they are new... think about how useful it could be in the future in relation to the current price

Well the way that I am running tings at the moment (having just got back into the game) is always having at least 1 in my binder. that is straight from pack mint condition before considering a trade.

Thanks for the other info in the thread however definitely need to keep in mind the playability also.

I'm starting to think that I may need to wait a little before considering trades until I learn whats playable :/ better
