ORAS Trainer Customization

My theory is that in OR/AS won't have customizable characters, sadly. I think they're doing this to retain to the actual Gen3, using the original look of the hero/heroine we know and love. I think that once Gen7 gets here (or possibly Z) they'll bring it back!

What about skin ton? as we all saw the new official male design's skin is darker. this might be as others said to fit the tropical environment.
However, what if this is actually a hint to the fact that even if we wont be able to change them drastically we will still be able to change them slightly in skin hair and eyes color?

I think it's highly unlikely that customization will be cut in this game or any future game, and there's a very good reason for that: because it goes hand in hand with the new online environment. With the ability to communicate with hundreds of players at the push of a button via the PSS, you need some way of telling all of those players apart. And since the PSS probably isn't going anywhere, neither will customization.

I think the thing is though, the player's dad didn't appear in X/Y, so mixed race could have made sense. But in R/S/E (and presumably the remakes) both of the parents are in the game so it would be weird. It still wouldn't really matter I suppose, but I think that's what people mean when they talk about Norman.

It is true that both parents appear in the game, but would it be that hard to program it so that when you chose a skin and hair color, both you and your mom get those features? That way, the biology would make sense and you wouldn't have to change the race of a gym leader. Or GameFreak could, and likely will, just not change either parent and assume no one will care which, after a week or so, no one will.

You could be adopted or Norman could not be your real dad. In the games, May looks like birch and Brendan looks like norman, so when you play as may, it isn't written in stone that norman is your real dad

Besides, if my rat can shoot lightning out his cheeks, I should be able to be black in my own game

So, I was looking at Slateport on the new map, it might not mean anything, but there's still a building where the pokemart used to be in it. My question is, what could that building be? A clothes store possibly?

I'm probably over thinking things.

I'm thinking is that Slateport's floorplan changed a bit, with the Pkcenter going down a bit and stand side by side with the Mart (on the right and the Center on the left).
What might be a clothing store is were there used to be the Battle Tent since the building seems far too square to be one (though it can be a Contest Hall and is likely to be since it looks like a building in both Verdanturf, Lilycove and Fallarbor (a lone building to the right). That said, there's still hope that the customisation will be available namely in Lilycove's Department Store and/or Slateport's market.
If it is indeed available, I'm still waiting for some evil teams outfits, since I wanna be able to play as my Aqua OC!

Have you noticed that in the official artwork, both of the characters' eyes are grey? Yuck, who wants grey eyes? My guess is that, at the very least, we'll have customizable eye colour.

Also, if customization (and possibly walking Pokémon) is brought back, then why would GF want to carelessly spoil it in the trailers not even halfway to the games' release? They'd want to keep that secret, I think.

Since pokemon centres and pokemarts are seperate, the leftover space in the pokemon centre could be used to sell and try on clothes.

They probably haven't shown customization yet because the games just recently were announced.
It may be too early.
It was like that last year with XY.

Character customization was always a problem in Pokemon as online gameplay became more and more prominent. As Bolt said, now that being connected to the Internet while playing is standard as long as you have an Internet connection, having hordes of Brendans and Mays appear at the bottom screen (or wherever else they will appear) is kinda dumb. No, I doubt customization will be removed.

Do you think there will be trainer customization in OR/AS or will we have to stick with the characters we have?

I think so this is going to be a gen 6 game.

I think the trainer customization will be featured on OR & AS even though of Norman.Gamefreak could make it that the mother will change along the preferences you choose at the beginning and everything gets solved easy and in a smart way.

If we do have trainer customization all I'm asking for is a hoodie similar to those of team magma. Also maybe outfits of previous villains like team plasma's gear. I just hope for the male character to get better clothes than we did in XY since we honestly got the short end of the fashion stick.

The thing is, that doesn't even really matter. I don't think anyone is gonna care if your skin doesn't match your parents. As I said earlier, even if they made your mom to match, you can still change your skin tone later through customization (at least you could in x/y). You still wouldn't match. They called it "tanning". Easiest solution is to have customization become unlockable at some point... Maybe slateport or after the first gym. Then you still get the Brendan and May nostalgia for a little bit, match your parents for the beginning (which are both iconic characters in and of themselves) and be yourself later.

I agree that customization makes sense with all of the online feature, it seems almost more complicated to remove it then to keep it. But I guess we'll see!

The way I see it is yes, that is a possibility, but the thing is: DNA. You can have tan skin while your parents are pale as a piece of paper. It's simple genetics. Say the tan is a recessive while white (please don't take this as racist, I don't want it to be) is the dominant. If you get 2 recessive genes then you will be tan. So no, I don't think it would cause controversy. If it does, then the people who are fussing probably didn't take science in school. xD But really, I don't think it will be a problem if they don't change the mom's skin color to match yours. Also I agree with Aerodactyl, he makes a good point. All in all, I think that customization will return at the point he says. In fact, they could integrate it into contests! Silly idea, but roll with it. There could be 5 different types of clothes to match the conditions of Pokemon (cool, beautiful, cute, smart and tough) and if you wear the same type of clothes as the contest you are entering, you can get a tiny (like shiny chances tiny) boost to your cheering. It'd add alot more variety to the clothes and would give boys more options. Unfair that girls get more styles, I mean like... guys like to be stylish too, y'know?

I would LOVE if clothes made a difference in contests! It would also REALLY force new clothing options... suddenly we'd have more categories. Cool, smart, tough... Guys would definitely benefit from it and girls would get more than just cute and pretty clothes. It would be really fun to mix and match that kind of stuff too!

Skin color doesn't work like that. Skin color is a polygenic trait/allele/whatever and that's why for example half black half white children often have more of a tan skin color instead of white or black, although if varies depending on how much of which parent's genes you got and whether they have any lighter/darker genes. Even if your parents both had a parent who was black, if they didn't get enough darker skin genes from their parent to be noticeably darker than other white/Japanese/anime race people, then the darkest you would be still wouldn't be as dark as somebody who was even half black has the potential to be.

Including a line saying that you're adopted is probably easier than making your mom match you, though.

Clothing having an effect on contests would be pretty cool, but I don't care as long as we get more options for guy clothes.

I wish that if customization is back it would also let you choose between different body types, different ages, eye shapes, nose shape, etc so that you can make your character even more unique looking

I would love to see you get a small selection of clothing to chose from in the beginning, absolutely free of charge, when you are creating your character. Everything else will be bought in shops.

That would be SO AWESOME but I doubt it will happen that fast :( Especially cause the anime style doesn't really allow for very different noses... even the NPC's in the game have very similar body shapes.

Skin color is/can be co-dominant
That is why it is why skin color is tan for half black people.

Yeah... I hate looking to the art for the human characters where some of them have just a little slash for a nose while others appear to have no nose at all.
