Remember when Yanmega Prime in HGSG format went from $6.00 to $60.00. I created this thread to give out a list of cards that are not worth anything now and will go up or cards that will keep there value and or drop.

The question to all is what cards will skyrocket in the BW-on format?

SKYROCKET
Kingklang (BW)
Reuniclus (BW)
Reuniclus Shiny
Serperior Shiny
Gardevoir
Sableye (REV HOLO)
Blissey (DE 82)
Leavanny (NV 3)
Kyogre-EX
Groudon-EX
Haxorus (NV 88)
Druddigon (NV 89) REV HOLO
Hydregion (Dragons Exalted)

HOLD VALUE and GO UP
Terrakion EX
Tornadus EX
Emolga (Dragons Exalted REV HOLO)
Regigigas EX
Shaymin EX
Terrekion
Pokemon Catcher
N (full art)
Serperior (BW6)
Mew-EX
Registeel-EX
Ho-Oh-EX
Gardevoir Shiny

DROP IN VALUE
Garchomp
Mewtwo EX (da)
Darkrai EX (da)
Rayquaza EX (da)
Rayquaza Shiny

Please add to the post with what cards you think will become big bucks for the BW-on format.

Haxorus and Druddigon will not rise in price at all. They aren't good cards and aren't played.
Nor will Gardevoir, Blissey, Leavanny, or Kyogre EX. None of them become insta-techs overnight, and barely any of them will actually see play.

SKYROCKET
Kingklang (BW)
Reuniclus (BW)
Reuniclus Shiny
Serperior Shiny
Gardevoir
Sableye (REV HOLO)
Blissey (DE 82)
Leavanny (NV 3)
Kyogre-EX
Groudon-EX
Haxorus (NV 88)
Druddigon (NV 89) REV HOLO
Hydregion (Dragons Exalted)

The only thing on here that would have any chance at going up is the RH Sableye. Hydreigon is already about as high as most holos go and it's not even that great The rest of the cards are no good whatsoever. They'll stay Tier 2 and lower. Yanmega Prime went from $30 to $60 overnight because it was presumed to be a Tier 2 card, even after Canadian Nationals. Then, after U.S. Nationals, people realized it actually fit into a Tier 1 deck.

Also on troll and toad the original price for Yanmega prime was $6, Pachirisu was $6 and Shaymin was $3. We all know what the prices went up too.

You and RogueChomp make good points but what will be top tier when the next set is released. Know one knows just yet. I have a good feeling that a lot of the cards on my list will rise in price because of the next set.

What cards do you guys will rise in price an or drop?

In Japan, the most popular decks are Eelektrik and Hydregion/Darkrai. The cards in these decks are already high in price. Other decks see a fair amount of play, but those two are the most popular. Most of the cards in other decks are already somewhat valuable; the price will depend on what gets played.

Yanmega started at 6 but it didn't go from 6 to 60+ in one day; it went from 6 to 30 after Canadian Nationals then 30 to 60 after U.S. Nationals.

the chances of these going up are extremely low. unless we somehow get a card that destroys eel decks(like a basic 1 fighting for 90 or something), and a even better trainer lock, reuniclus will never go up. I think catcher will actually drop in value? Why? The new EX tins feature 1 EPO pack.

Most of the cards on your list are extremely easy to get a hold of and not played. :p

Things that *may* "skyrocket" would be like Max Potion EP. This card was $0.25 not too long ago (I stocked up on a TON of them), and it may become a huge staple second only to Pokémon Catcher EP. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if TPCi planned it like that because EP is a horrid set but people do need the staple(s) in it. Also, Shiny Rayquaza probably won't maintain its price for long, but long-term this could easily be a $100 card. Rayquaza is a popular Pokémon and in a few years, that card could be extremely difficult to find in Mint condition given its rarity and playability.

I looked at the cards you said that will skyrocket and I'm still wondering how Blissey, Druddigon and Haxorus are gonna skyrocket. They are not very useful at all. Even most of the other cards you listed won't skyrocket.

Some more backup for that reasoning is that a lot of DRX Ultra Rares (and normal cards) have been noted to be pulled with white spots on them (front and/or back) or with edge wear already on them.

Sound familiar to another shiny Rayquaza? ;D

I agree! I didn't pull a single Gem Mint Ultra Rare out of all of the boxes that I opened (22 Ultra Rare cards in total). They all had some specks of edge wear and some also had white spots on other parts of the card.

Even if there are EPO packs in the tins, odds are you probably won't get one.. Also, the price of Pokemon catcher has actually increased by a few dollars within the last 2 weeks. (retail price at least) I doubt they'll be significantly cheaper since they're game changing staples in most, if not all decks and they're In high to moderate demand most of the time..

To add to the discussion on Pokémon Catcher:

TPCi may release a Promo version of the staple in the future. They don't seem to be in favor of a secondary market on the popular cards. Some of the best cards like Mewtwo EX and Darkrai EX both received Promos, so I don't see why they wouldn't consider doing the same with Pokémon Catcher. However, if they do that, they will probably sell A LOT less EP Boosters. :p

I actually think TPCi does keep tabs on the secondary market. That's why they release promo versions of the hottest cards (Darkrai EX and such) because they see the cards go for $80, and they realize not everyone can afford them, so they eventually release a promo version to make the game a bit more fair for everyone.

With Catcher though, I do not foresee this happening because the card is worth under $15, so there is no need for a promo version. Especially since, like you said, if a promo were released, no one would be EP packs - and why would TPCi want to lose money like that? :p Oh, and they already released a second catcher (shiny catcher), so a third one would seem a little out-of-place :/

I agree with you, but I would just like to point out that there have been 4 different versions of Reshiram and Zekrom. (BW version, SR version, NXD, and promo)

If we get a reprint of Catcher, I would expect it to be in a Theme Deck. (This way it doesn't get a new set symbol and doesn't last in the format longer than it should.) Suppose league promo is a vague possibility for similar reasons, but I doubt it. Still, I suspect Catcher is part of the reason practically every Pokemon tin/box has Emerging Powers packs.

I doubt they'll make catcher a promo. It's just a card they need to make money off of. It is common enough that you would buy packs to get them, but expensive enough that they aren't just throw ins.
