Tsunami in Hawaii?

The earthquake that occured in Chile was located near the Pacific "Ring of Fire" so that could explain why it's magnitude was so strong. Hopefully the tsunami heading towards Japan won't be too bad, at least not as bad as the tsunami in 2004 at least.

I thought that this was worse than the one in Haiti. There hasn't been a quake with a magnitude of 8.8 in years!!

Magnitude wise it was worse, but it wasn't as bad as haiti (death toll - injury and destruction wise) due to Chile having procedures in place and being prepared.

Some quick facts on yesterdays tsunami.

8.8 Magnitude Earthquake in Chile, it was a deep earthquake of 60km, which is why the damage on land wasn't as big as it could have been- though it was still pretty catastrophic. With hundreds of deaths.

Now in regards to the tsunami, the earthquake only generated a small tsunami which reached a maximum surge height of 7 feet. It was felt in California, Hawaii, French Polynesia and other parts- but the waves generated become smaller with distance in the most part.

Quite frankly put it was a best situation considering the magnetude of the quake, minimal surge from the tsunamis and the average person wouldn't have even noticed it unless they were looking for it- it basically just involved the sea surging a few feet.

But this is a pokemon website? You wouldn't go to a pet forum or something just to talk about an earthquake? I understand it's tragic and all, but how could you not expect it to involve pokemon somehow being as it's posted on a pokemon forum?

I bet Chile doesn't get HUGE amounts of money from us. o_O
(I guess that's what they get for being prepared lolz)
