Ruling Two Questions

I have two quick questions that came up during a game:

1) Fortress LA, if 4 special metal energy are attached takes no damage from its attack, correct?

2) If your opponent has a Bastiodon out, is the bench protected from "Put damage counters" effects?

1) Yup, 0 damage.
2) No. Bastiodon prevents only damage, not effects of attacks.

I'm not sure on the first one, I can answer the second one.

Placing damage and dealing damage are two different things and Bastidon doesn't protect from it.

Special Metal Energy only protects Pokemon from opponent's attacks. Sorry, Forretress still takes damage.

Correction. Forretress takes none.

"Damage done by attacks to the Pokemon Metal Energy is attached do is reduced by 10..."
That's ALL damage done by ALL attacks.
So yes. Putting 4 Sp. Metal on Forretress turns him into a truck.

As for the second question, no. Bastiodon protects all "damage dealt".
Putting counters on something id NOT dealing any damage.
