Standard Typhlosion deck - no LeLe

I am a League Leader of a small casual league in a small town. We do not run tournaments. My sons have played competitive TCG as Juniors. There are quite a few TCG tournaments within an hour drive of our town. I have a young league member (Junior) who is looking to get into competitive play. He went to a League Challenge with his modified theme deck, and lost badly, and was quite frustrated. His Mom wants a deck that can at least take some prize cards, but is not looking to invest much at this point. In this area it is not unusual for Juniors to be mixed with Seniors.

I came up with the deck below:

I built this on TCGonline, the Oricorio start is pretty good. I would like it to be more consistent. I would love any suggestions you may have.

You most likley want the 4 ultra ball instead of the one timer ball. This deck is also lacking a lot of draw, 4 sycamore and 4 N are usually played in most standard decks, however your deck probably wants 3 sycamore and 4 N. Altar of the sunne is not needed because there are no good water type decks that are played that much in the format right now. You probably want 4 rare candy, as getting your typhlosion out is essential to your deck. Choice band is also good, as it adds another 30 damage to your attack. brock's grit is also good, as it is basically 2 super rods. If you are going to run talonflame, its 4 or none.

Are you playing standard or expanded and how much money are they willing to invest?

We only have Standard tournaments in our area. The boy has most of these cards. He is lacking a couple Typhlosion, and rare candies. The Mom is not really wanting to put more than say $20 into this project. This is a Junior deck.

You might also wasnt to look at Marsahdow from shining legends. They are about 50 cents on troll and toad

There is a local Junior who is playing Greninga. I think I have trouble with too few energies already. What is the least I can get away with in a Typhlosion deck.

If he is looking for a really budget deck, he could build Guzzlord GX. It sets up extremely consistently and does 180 damage with almost no setup. It could be a good deck for juniors, but it isn't all that competetive. if the other junios aren't that great, it would actually be a good decklist.

I am not joking about this decklist, it can beat slower-setup decks pretty easily and it is one of the most consistent decks out there.
The guzzlords are about $5 each, however, and so are the bridgettes.
The idea is to use eat sloppily and attach a ton of energy with the attack. Then, just use tyrannical hole to ko the opponent's pokemon. Glutton GX takes 2 more prize cards if the pokemon is knocked out by the attack

Typhlosion 4-3-4
Talonflame 4. Raising the count to 4 allows the best chance of starting, if you draw into one you can use to for Ultra Ball
Alolan Vulpix 2 (Beacon) in my opinion this is a better search as it'll allow you to get a Typhlosion if you have the rare candy as appose to just throwing two basic (R) type to the bench

Ultra Ball-4 (if you get the chance use Talonflame as discard)

For the last slot if you can work a Turtonator GX in as Shell Trap allows you to play defensively and Nitro Tank GX allows you to build up itself up to us Bright Flame if needed or Typlosion's Flare Destroy if you're to close to milling yourself out. If you cant get a Turtonator ($2.50 on troll and toad) then another Lusamine would be good. Lusamine will allow you to recover brock to prevent decking out too quickly. This is a much more straight forward version of the deck. If you're worried about water decks keep in mind no deck is without weakness but you can always tech in a Vespiquen or Tauros GX as Greninja will only make it stronger.
