Standard Umbreon-GX/Yveltal-EX

So this evening, I tried running an Umbreon-GX/Yveltal-EX deck at a local tournament. It was my second time playing that deck at a tournament, and the first time I had a terrible 1-4-0 score and last place. This time around though, I had adjusted it to correct some flaws and I had practiced with Yveltal-EX decks for the past week. There only were three rounds this time around, of which I won 2 games and lost 1. I ended up with third place and I had a good tournament with varied matchups. I got defeated by Greninja at first but then took wins against Espeon-GX/Garbodor and a Jolteon-EX/Glaceon-EX/Mew lock deck. I was rather satisfied by my deck's build, but I still feel like it has room for improvement (and for something that would help me deal with Greninja).

Anyway, here is the exact decklist I played:

Pokémon - 13

3 Umbreon-GX SM
2 Yveltal XY
3 Yveltal-EX XY
3 Eevee SM
2 Shaymin-EX ROS

Trainer - 34

3 Altar of the Moone

1 Hex Maniac
2 Lysandre
3 N
4 Professor Sycamore

4 Choice Band
3 Max Elixir
1 Super Rod
2 Switch
3 Trainers' Mail
4 Ultra Ball
4 VS Seeker

Energy - 13

4 Double Colorless Energy
9 Darkness Energy

I am looking for some suggestions for improvements for this deck. One of the change I currently am considering is adding in a Flareon AOR to be able to hit for Fire Weakness.

As for the pros and cons this deck has:

Pros

1. Umbreon-GX's 200 HP makes it very hard to one hit Knock Out for most decks and it also has Psychic Resistance
2. Appears to have a good Espeon-GX/Garbodor matchup (will need some more testing but it theorically does)
3. Yveltal-EX is an efficient way to defeat Energy stacking decks
4. Yveltal XY can be used to recur Energy and mess up the Prize exchange
5. Free Retreat to all Pokémon in the deck when the Stadium is in play
6. Umbreon-GX is able to chain Knock Out Garbodor GUR
7. Assorted Weaknesses, being to Lightning and to Fighting for Yveltal-EX and Umbreon-GX respectively, mean that you can fairly take on any type matchup
8. Umbreon-GX can set up Knockouts with Shadow Bullet for Yveltal-EX to then clean up the board
9. Dark Call GX is a scary GX attack that can ruin the opposing board state when used at the right time (for example after an N to 2 cards)

Cons

1. Struggles to get one hit Knock Outs most of the time (this is a two-shot deck)
2. Efficient attackers are all worth two Prize cards, which makes the Greninja and Talonflame BREAK matchups very difficult (besides they don't stack Energy)
3. Building up a giant Yveltal-EX is risky because of Tapu Lele-GX, so you will typically want to limit yourself to 3-4 Energy per Yveltal-EX
4. Yveltal-EX can be Knocked Out in one hit by many decks, against which using Umbreon-GX's attacks for most of the game should be required
5. Has a disadvantage against Fairy decks, probably doesn't do very well against Sylveon-GX

I think this deck probably is the best deck that comprises Yveltal-EX at the moment.

I can agree with this as well. It's good against Garbodor for the matchup, and can take hits as well as dish them back out. One thing I had been thinking of, albeit potential fuel to Garbodor with Field Blower running around, would be Fighting Fury belt to help out Yveltal's problem of not being able to run from the magic number 180. It would also assist in upping the damage for Evil Ball as well as the extra damage of Y Cyclone. Another thing to possibly consider would be Darkrai EX, which could help with the KO problem. Darkrai GX may also help with this.

All in all, I am in agreeance with TCG_Destroy, and think that this is most likely the best usage we can get from Yveltal EX.

I've been considering Fighting Fury Belt with this deck. I find it to be great in Yveltal-EX/Garbodor BKP, however, in Umbreon-GX/Yveltal-EX, there are both Basic and Evolved attackers. This makes Fighting Fury Belt somewhat complicated to use, as it only works with half of my attackers. Although 180 is a current magical number, not every deck intends on hitting it and Umbreon-GX already serves the purpose of a tankier attacker, with 30 more Hit Points than Yveltal-EX. Choice band is just the most consistent Tool card for this deck, however I would not argue against teching one or two Fighting Fury Belt if you feel like your Basic attackers need some extra bulk. It also grants you extra damage against any opposing Active Pokémon.

I went to another tournament with this exact list (see the first post) this evening and went 2-3-0, which makes for a total record of 4-4-0 so far with this decklist. Not amazingly successful but better than many other decks I've tried out, and besides I am not that great of a Darkness player just yet.

As for my decklist, I would consider cutting one of the Oblivion Wing Yveltal to add in either a Flareon AOR or a random tech card that would beneficiate me against certain matchups, such as a Professor Kukui or a Sudowoodo. I can't really think of any other changes to make to this deck before Burning Shadows becomes Standard Legal (even then I like Lysandre + Switch over Guzma before the rotation).
